HMD Fusion (nighthawk)

Hello,

I would like to know if it could be possible to add the compatibility with the HMD Fusion, as the bootloader is now unlockable since the last year.

Regards.

I do not see a device specific build, but at least the nighthawk got an entry at TrebleExperimentation (but no dedicated page). You can use the procedure from any recent A/B+arm64 entry there (blue link, 2022+ entry).

With the instructions would go the newest unofficial GSI download in the tag link.

(There’s an earlier nighthawk thread just for crossref - nothing new there)

The HMD Fusion (nighthawk) is my main phone, so I need stability. I prefer to avoid unofficial GSIs due to potential issues.

I am new to open-source mobile OS communities and unsure how to request official support beyond the forum. Thank you for your answers and guidance. I understand the process and will wait for further updates.

it being a qualcomm SoC and a bootloader unlock method available, I think eventually there is going to be a device port, but nothing yet on xda or github (but a recovery guide). You need to wait some more.

(Imo GSIs are still too overlooked, they’re not less stable inherently, just a chance some subsystem not working. Ofc if the latter is critical - ims/volte or similar - it’s a dealbreaker)

Thanks for the hope! With the coming control of the APK files by Google, I definitely want to keep my OS free. Even if it’s a cheap phone, I like the HMD Fusion, as you can repair it by yourself. Whatever, I’ll follow the news about it.

Well I was doing some late night digging on Github and trying to search if anyone has gotten a custom rom working on the Fusion again AND I think I might have found the kernel finally!

Most recent activity and another one with from what I can tell from seeing other kernels on Github/Gitlab etc. could be the real deal. The device did just get a security update from HMD in January.

Build is now 00WW_2_830_SP01 and the Security Update is from 1-5-26

you could try a GSI

Might be interesting if the kernel is finally available as there is no GSI for the nighthawk yet. Can’t wait to see the following events!

Is this confirmed by information from install of Treble Info
Treble Info | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository ?

Sorry, didn’t check this. I just looked at the forum.

I think part of the source code is available from HMD

Maybe this might help?

been for a long time really, what there isn’t yet is somebody attempting a port on github or xda. Using a GSI is still the most straightforward way
