How can I deactivate MMS?

Hello,
I find no option in the message-app to deactivate or block MMS (as it was possible with my old Android-phone). The problem is that my provider charges extra for MMS (for which there isn’t any more use anyway). I also tried other messengers for SMS, but they did not give me that option either. Does anyone know how to do this? (Device: Fairphone 3)

I use the Silence application (https://silence.im/) and in settings>chats and multimedia, I have an option to disable automatic retrieval of MMS.
