How to use Bliss Weather custom location?

I’m using a FP4 with /e/OS 3.x and the battery life is pretty good and data use low, but I’d like to minimize those as much as is practical, and so keeping the location off most of the time would be ideal.
If a custom location is set in Bliss Weather, would it thereafter not need location to be on?

What format should be used for inputting a custom location for bliss weather?
Does it need zip code?
Should the state / territory and country be spelled out entirely or abbreviated, should they separated by commas? Seattle, Washington, United States of America or Seattle, WA, US ?

Yes you can use Bliss Weather without location on.

In my case I use my city separated buy a comma then the country code:

Toronto, CA

I do not recall if I had location on when make the setting change and turn it off after the location was set, so try it either way.

Some months ago I tried to block the location permission to bliss weather, but I had update problems although I had set a custom location. So I turned it on again.

Some time ago I recognised that there were many apps doing something in the background without my request. As conseqence I went through all apps and thought about the background usage. Have a look at Apps–each app–battery usage–background usage. Turn it off for all apps you do not need running in background. (All games, readers, tools,…) Of course your messanger and warning app should run in background.
After doing so my battery lasts 50% longer.

Another thing to do for a long lasting battery is reducing the display brightness to the minimum needed.

My FP4 needs about 33% battery per day with 1hour screen time. In all day use I charge the battery all 2 days to 85%.

When you enter a valid city as Custom location you should be offered the correct format. So if I enter Seattle I am offered

An “area” rather than city is also possible you can check the openweather api.
