I just received my Murena CMF phone. I’m quite happy with it; so far things are all right. Except that the keyboard is so simple that I cannot use it. I tried others but they are no better.
I’m going to install GBoard the Google keyboard… What can I do to avoid my data to be stolen in the process?
The original thread has been a victim of the strange auto closure policy on this forum, but Japanese support in FUTO keyboard has since shipped, so no more need to use an experimental build.
Both Japanese and Korean need a dictionary to be downloaded and added in the setting in order for suggestions to work. In case of Korean, the app does not give a link, but as mentioned in the other thread, this one here can be used for now.
Thank you all for trying to help me but it seems quite complicated to get Japanese and Korean keyboards. I’m too old for complicated, I’m afraid.
About installing GBoard, I see that “Advanced Privacy” is doing a great job at blocking trackers. Would it be enough to prevent Google from stealing my data if I install their keyboard? I have the same question about Google Translate.
All right, after some search, I eventually installed GBoard. Turns out that Google added some confidentiality settings where we can decide to share or not data with them. I disabled everything.
Furthermore, I found a thread here that helped: Which keyboard do you use and disallowed GBoard access to the internet.
Hopefully doing this will be enough.
Thank you for paying attention!
