I got my hands on my FP6 and started migrating from my old Samsung Note 20. I knew I would have to make compromises when I decided to switch, but I wanted to take this step and support the ecosystem. I know that small changes from the user’s perspective could mean a lot of work on the development side, so I am very grateful that you have given us this opportunity to make suggestions ![]()
So here are my suggestions:
1 widgets and lyout
This Appel like layout is new to me but I really miss the customisation options of puting widgets on any page.
And the wider grid options were helpful.
2 navigation
For me, the Samsung-style navigation produces fewer accidental clicks. The three buttons at the bottom are hidden, and swiping up activates them.
3 clipboards
The clipboard history is missing, but it made working on my phone much easier.
4 Keyboard:
I have noticed that the suggestions are not appearing in many cases (even now, as I type). In most apps, I have to write my email address every time I log in.
5 Passwords:
Samsung had Samsung Pass, which stored all app login information. It would be useful to store this data locally.
- Camera:
I know this is probably an FP6 ‘feature’, but it’s hard to say goodbye to a good camera in your pocket. I hope this is a transitional issue, and I have written to Fairphone urging them to share their software with you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I apologise if these features are in the system and I just couldn’t find them.
I am very grateful for your work and for taking a stand for privacy and freedom!
