This is the link to /e/OS Installer, but it is not characterised as âEasyâ for new users. fp4 ( â the hashtag leads to discussions about the device).
There is âungloogled chromiumâ that can run the /e/ âweb installerâ,
But seriously, youâd better to prepare yourself to use the recommended âinstall-scriptâ method.
It will be successfull and time saverâŠ
Itâs not a block. You need a browser that supports WebUSB, and Firefox does not.
So you have to install a chromium based browser like ungoogled-chromium
Just as already said but it is html tool rather than standard website with no support page. There is a Help button leading to page not found and no known way to collect a log yourself, so hard to ask for help.
The installer can have issues and then youâll be pulling your hair over them. The command line instructions are more reliable. Really itâs not that complicated, the instructions are pretty straightforward.
Thanks.
I have installed Opera to access installer.
I have readen also the doc for the command line instructions.
Il have installed lineage on my Sony Xperia xa2 7 years ago.
No the ROM comes with e-Recovery, a more simple custom recovery. This thread gives an idea what it looks like. [HOWTO] use e-Recovery to wipe & format data before sideloading/install eOS. The script install method puts the whole ROM on in one, without setting up the Recovery then using Recovery to install system.
Does your Ubuntu File manager have a GUI method to âExtract hereâ. That is a very convenient way using Thunar in Debian.
Or if a genuine error did you already check the sha256sum?
Also TWRP is build specific. For the phone I have running /e/os there is no TWRP build available. Itâs possible to build it yourself for a particular phone, but that requires some technical work Iâm not willing to get into myself.
You can use TWRP if you want since there is a build for the FP4. It has lots of useful features, but /e/os provides a recovery that gets the job done if you donât want to mess with it.
The different build types are explained here Different Build Types. You can use either.
community is ahead in Android version at this time; official will receive Android version OTA Upgrade which some may feel a benefit, others are less happy with this as the Android version upgrade may seem slow to arrive as it involves much work by the devs.
Just or future reference, I run Firefox myself so I would have to run a Chromium based browser for applets that require WebUSB access such as the /e/os/ installer and Android Flash Tool. Ungoogled-chromium offers a portable version you can just unzip and run in place. Itâs pretty convenient.
i have the same message
