Install e/OS on Fairphone 6

3.1.2 is part of testing…

Edit: It is also part of release now

It is for some reason still in stable update channel. There would not be bigger problem, if it was kept in testing channel.

Uuuuu seeing now the 3.1.2 version is up for FP6, totally trying that!
Will report back if I brick again :woman_shrugging:

That version is broken and SIM cards are not always working as that version apparently should be testing version. If you didnt install 3.1.2 yet I would wait little bit.

I sincerely hope a lot of users will use this opportunity to learn to make that:
Is up … totally will have a look into competent corners of the internet to see whether something important is now broken.

Nope I was wrong, didn’t check correctly.

I did install it and for the moment it was better than with 3.0.4! Managed to lock the bootloader without bricking, and now I am trying to try and see if stuff is effectively broken, but for the moment it looks pretty functional!

Revolut / MitID are not working though, and I need those, so I am considering what to do, as I have seen that Play Integrity checks will indeed stop apps from running what they consider unsafe devices…

With which google security patch is compatible? I dont really understand, sorry.
I would love to install it

Revolut should be working again now after 2 months, please check the newest posts here … Revolut (Banking app) no more running

MitID seems to be a problem … MitID problems (danish personal digital id)

Hello there,
So I just bought a FP6 today and I would like to install /e/OS with the online Installer.
My question is to know what I’m supposed to do before launch the installation and not to brick it.
It’s pretty clear that I have to install the latest Android Security update (through the system update) and I found that the one from the 5th july is installed (I tried to check what is the latest version on internet, but I couldn’t find it).
I saw the topic of the “anti-rollback” and I understood that it will not be an issue if I installed the latest System update).
I guess that I will have to unlock the bootloader but not completely sure with the /e/OS online installer.
Did someone already used the online installer ?
P.S.: I think I saw that Windows 11 shall be used also and Opera or Edge as a browser.
P.P.S. : should I proceed with the update of the Google Play system ?

Hi @Alt0216 welcome to the /e/ forum.

fp6 is about two days old on eosinstaller and we see fails, see also hashtag Web Installer.

If you had your FP6 only 1 day please take some time to do preparatory reading before committing to it.

I suggest essential reading Install /e/OS on a Fairphone The Fairphone (Gen. 6) - “FP6”

Edit One can demonstrate the installer /e/OS Installer without connecting your phone to check that you have a workable browser. The first sequences have useful screenshots to show some required preliminary steps.

Thanks for the welcome back.
Ok I see … so I will proceed with the manual installation.
I regret the time when I could flash any OS with TWRP on my FP2 !

Hi

I installed on FP6 via e-installer. It worked until the last step. The phone keeps switching off and starting again ad infinitum.

Is there anything I can do?

Marco

Hi, I have loaded e/os some time ago (also with the issues mentioned related to not completing the upload several times, but finally it worked after using a different usb cable; actually it did stop again but after reboot it did boot into e/os without issues afterwards) and kept the bootloader unlocked for a while (until now). I was planning to lock the bootloader again after at least 1 additional patch to ensure the security level of the patches was higher than the fairphone had, but reading everything on this forum, given I had a patch level of july 2025 on Fairphone, me having updated to 3.1.4, can I now safely lock the bootloader or should I have done that immediately and how can I best proceed with this? I do not have any app-problem with the unlocked bootloader so what are the advantages of even doing that? Hope anyone with experience to tell me! Thanks, Roderik

Here we see A discussion about bootloader locking/unlocking… AKA I want to relock my bootloader, should I?.

Always best to follow instructions … probably hard to give you a yes or no answer as it might depend what you have done on the phone in the meantime. If you :mag: Late lockers you should find other user stories.

Thanks, I will leave the phone unlocked then; too much risk as it is my daily driver. Only thing not working as planned is Android Auto but I think this is not related. Anyway, Thanks for the links and the answers!
