Its the latest update from 30 june, I downgraded to previous version and the app works again, Revolut also states they dont allow the app run on custom firmware / rooted devices i was thinking about switching tio e/OS but now see ikts the same issue hopefully the devs are able to fix Revolut detects a custom firmware with /e/OS (#8395) · Issues · e / Backlog · GitLab like aibd posted
It was mentioned that there will be a workaround / fix included regarding Revolut with the next (bigger?) update for /e/.
I’m not sure if it was mentioned only for official releases or community releases, as well.
It is a very common problem with the latest update(s) due to changes which result in it recognizing the “custom firmware” unfortunately.
Some banking applications seem to have comparable issues from all the new threads that I saw regarding those.
Some days ago I got the same problem, the Revolut app don’t start anymore. I got the same message (in German language). I hope this will be fixed soon. Whithout the app I cann’t do anything. Fortunately Revolut isn’t my main account.
I got the same issue some days ago and was following those posts about Revolut… I was waiting for the eOS update that said the fix would be released in July with the next update.
But I just got the latest Revolut update, minutes ago. And it works again. Not sure if I got lucky or they revised their position. Any other lucky person?
Some people stated that newest Revolut app ver 10.88.2 is working on e/os even with unlocked bootloader. They were able to login without any difficulties.
Whether Revolut changed their approach towards custom ROMs, or it was just a mistake on their side with this particular version is a mistery for me.
Could you people check it and report it here?
Thanks!
You did not ask me, but I also tried and it worked for me as well.
Device: hotdog (op7t pro)
OS: e/OS v3.0.4 community (3.0.4-a14-20250709507533-community-hotdog)
Bootloader: unlocked
By unofficial do you built it or it was compiled by one of our ROM builders from this forum.
As you may be aware the two type of builds we release from /e/OS are official ones that go out for devices we sell and are bootloader locked and the community builds which do not have locked bootloaders.
It seems like a lot of banking apps are going down after the last update. Starling in the UK is showing the sane behaviour. Any news on how to sort this?
