Installing E/OS on Fairphone 4 fails: doesnt find device

I tried installing e/os with the easy installer on my fairphone 4. After downloading the image my windows PC doesnt find any device to reconnect to.

The phone is in the bootloader mode but the device is locked. (see image)

What is going wrong?

Hello,

It seems you have two small problems:

1. Your PC does not have the driver required for fastboot/download mode, it should be easy to solve with windows→ windows detects automatically you device while in normal mode and in fast boot mode and by now windows update should show a compatible driver in the optional updates.
2. Your bootloader is still locked probably because you (or /e/ OS installer) were not able to send the command to unlock it in fastboot mode. You or the installer will be able to proceed once the driver is installed . As stated in both the installer and manual instructions, to unlock the bootlader you need first to retrieve an unlock code on the vendor website

If you plan to relock the bootloader after the installlation

(not mandatoty, only available with Official version, why relocking ?)
Most important thing to take care about is the “android Security Patch Level” in the already installed Operating System on your device before you start the install process.

It must be OLDER than the “android Security Patch Level” included in the /e/OS build you want to install, otherwise you risk to change your device into Brick.

• You will find this information about stock OS on the device :

settings --> about phone --> android version 15 --> android security update

By updating windows i succeeded in unlocking the bootloader. This however doesnt combine with the automatic installer, so i suppose i have to do a manual install….later
