Is there a way to know until when a phone will stop having android builds?

Dear community, I have a question.

My brother is traveling from the Netherlands to Argentina in March and I would like him to bring me a second hand phone. I am currently using a G7 Power 32 GB and 3 of RAM. I would like him to bring me a model of 64 GB and 4 RAM (here in Argentina that model does not circulate) to migrate to the higher RAM and use the other to test the ROMs and join the team of testers. But here I have a doubt,

is there a way to know until what time an Android device will continue to have new Android builds? At least we know that Lineage supports it with Android 15, which is what I’m interested in. Because otherwise I was also thinking of buying a second hand Pixel 4a that I saw them at a good price.

I doubt there will be any guarantees, only probabilities…

My 2 cents-presumption would be: the higher the popularity/market penetration of a specific model in general AND availability of LOS for the specific model AND the newer the model (because of technical compatibility with newer A-versions) - the higher the probability for updates of degoogled android builds…

So if the phone you have in mind can be equipped with LOS based on A15 already and is rather new, it should be a good candidate for eOS 15 one fine day … and maybe beyond…

(The pixel A4 is a nice phone by the way.)

I think one thing you could look at is the year of manufacture of the device, newer being more advanced in most cases in terms of memory, RAM and CPU(s) speed.

I too like the Pixel line both the 4a and the 4a5g have 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. I like this phone because the fingerprint reader is on the back. The latter has the 5th generation technology for the faster speeds available in some markets.

If not available in your market look to eBay or other online store/auction sources.

I think it is very important to check with the phone service providers in you country, for witch phones they provide VoLte support, in most country’s, they are shutting down 2G and 3G , and so if your phone company does not support VoLTE for your new second hand Phone, It will be useless.
