OK, so I decided to try /e/OS on my Fairphone 6. Globally things work and I have got through some unexplained weirdnesses such as the yellow button blocking my camera and mic (nice idea… if I has been told). Now I face this: If I use anonymity (as far as I understand that’s the result of using the Murena ID) I can’t get anything paid (“Paid apps cannot be installed in anonymous mode”). However, if I log into App Lounge with my Google account… I can no more download anything (selecting install just starts an infinite waiting loop).
That’s not tragic as I don’t need most of these paid apps, but it prevents buying some “thank you” apps. But why have paid apps on the Lounge if they can’t be installed?
If you still have problems with the installation of paid apps, you may try Aurora Store, see [HOWTO] Download every app in the Google Play Store thanks to Aurora Store. (The article states at the beginning that it is outdated because App Lounge allows for the installation of every app - this is usually correct, but Aurora Store is a good workaround if there are problems.)
Clearing the cache did not solve the problem. Installing “Fossify Thank You” fails in Aurora too. Loging into App Lounge with a google account fails as well (says it will send me to the Google Play page, but does not (probably can’t).
Please notice that Clear storage is required Clear cache is insufficient.
Is the problem just Google login? (I think you identify that.)
I think it would be good to know if Google login is a fail first … then second Paid apps can be a bit hit and miss, maybe depends how the money flows … thirdly, is it the particular Paid app(s)?
Be aware also of Settings > System > MicroG > MicroG Settings > Google Play Services and the note “experimental” re billing.
