Mail sync issues are making me give up

Hello,

I’m using e/os/ for a few weeks now, and I can’t with the mail sync.

I setup my gmail accounts to use in the default mail app (via Settings>Accounts), and it works… randomly.

The sync works when it wants, I receive mails on one account, not on the others ; then I receive on all ; then it doesn’t sync ; …

When I try to send messages, they go in the Outbox and are sent…. Later, don’t know when. Just now, tried to click on the three dots menu and Send, I got a notification “Cannot Send, retries exceeded”…

Yesterday I needed a code in a mail, valid only 15 minutes, the mail never came visible. I tried killing the app, rebooting the phone, refreshing the inbox ….

For hours I didn’t receive any mail (couldn’t see the ones I got three hours sooner).

So I tried installing Thunderbird, then K-9, it doesn’t really work better after connecting to the mail account.

I tried setting up k-9, exporting settings, importing in Thunderbird, …

The fact that it’s not automatic, always every second fetching mail is not an issue, but when I hit Sync, or refresh the inbox, it should be there. I shouldn’t have to wait a random time to receive my mails.

Oh, I also have the App Lounge issue lots of people have, but I won’t install Aurora again (showing google services instead of understanding it’s microg faking it, don’t want to make any mistake).

I really can’t, having a phone on which I can’t install app if the app Lounge isn’t in the mood, or not being able to receive mails when I need to….

I just wanted a phone on which all trackers all definitively blocked…

If there’s no solution (logical and not needing to install another third-party app….), I think I will give up on e/os/.

E/os/ version : 4.1.1-a16-20260717651034-official-FP6

I really am no tech nerd, so this won’t be of any help. But I do wonder why you use a de-googled phone and still use gmail. If so, you still need to be logged in with your google account.
I find it less comfortable with e/os/ and the murena account than I found it with my former Google Pixel and the Google account, but having now made the decision against Google, I would never dare to use a private google account on my e/os/ phone. I use Google workspace for my work, but check the webmail on the browser.

I myself do currently have a problem with my murena-mail and will post about it in the forum, but still, on an e/os/-device I would rather recommend that, instead of gmail. I’m sure there will be a solution to my problem…

You do not mention your device … but there is this request for specific feedback on the issue
