Moto g42 running /e/OS 3.0.4 doesn't offer update

My moto g42 running /e/OS/ 3.0.4 doesn’t offer the update to /e/OS 3.3 which is available. (Message: No new updates found.) It seems, that it is possible to do a local update. How would I do this? Does the zip-file have to be copied to a certain place and should I also place the recovery file there?

As mihi suggested, here the full version name: e-3.0.4-t-20250710507811-community-hawao. This was the last update for the Android 13 version. The 3.3 versions are Android 14 and 15. Would the updater offer an update for higher Android version, or would I have reinstall to get on that release?

The System updater does not offer Android version upgrade on community builds.

One option is a fresh install for a clean fresh start or there are many posts on the subject dirty upgrade and this [HOWTO] Upgrade my /e/OS to major Android version without loosing /data.

Dear aibd, thanks for pointing me to the right post. I could upgrade successfully to the newest Android 15 version for my moto g42 without losing data.

Alternatively, you can update the system locally by copying the version 3.3 zip archive to the phone’s memory. Then use the local update option of the tool, i.e. system update, and then you don’t need to place the recovery file separately.
