I have installed cedric (/e/0.18) last week on my Moto G5 and i’m overall happy with it, expect that i struggle to start the wifi hotspot. I need it to share the phone’s 3G/4G connection with laptop and other devices.
I access the proper menu but i simply can’t toggle to setting to “on”.
Would you have any clue?

J’ai installé /e/0.18 cedric sur mon téléphone Moto G5 mais je n’arrive pas à activer le partage de connexion : je vois le menu mais il n’est pas possible de passer le switch sur on.
Je suis en France. La carte SIM (redsfr) n’est pas en cause car le partage de connexion fonctionne avec d’autre téléphones (Moto G, Blackberry Classic).
Peut-être avez-vous des idées de tests et/ ou de solutions?

I eventually found out yesterday that disabling the “Data Economy” setting enables the “activate wifi hotspot” switch.
Hope this helps.
Solution : désactiver le réglage “Réseau et internet” / “Economiseur de données” permet d’activer le point d’accès Wi-Fi.

You are correct, there is this nice message in English.
However my mobile uses French, where the message is: “Impossible de partager la connexion ou d’utiliser des points d’accès mobiles lorsque la sauvegarde des données est activée”.
“Sauvegarde” means “backup”, which has nothing to do with the data saver.
So, we have a misleading message in the French version of the interface. I guess this is standard Android, therefore impossible to fix…

while it’s forked, Settings don’t have a weblate repo https://i18n.e.foundation/projects/e/ so this originates from lineage or AOSP. You could solve it in /e/ only if the Devs take the pull request for a translation. What is the name of the “Data saver” option in french?
