Motorola g 2014 "titan" - problems with the boot loader

Hi,
I’m trying to install /e/ on a Motorola G 2014 - “titan”, following these steps (https://doc.e.foundation/devices/titan/install).
When I sideload the /e/ .zip package, I receveid this message:

This package supports bootloader (s): 0x4882, 0x4883, 0x4886, 0x4887; this device has boot loader 0x4822.
Updater process ended with error: 7

Any solutions?
Thanks a lot,
Carlito.

The bootloader firmware is integrated in StockROM Android.

I recommend to install the last available StockROM Android 6.0 Marshmallow for your region.

When the bootloader is unlocked, install TeamWin - TWRP twrp-3.3.1-0-titan via fastboot and finally /e/ for titan dev (nougat) via adb sideload.

or push your eOS.zip via PC-FileExplorer (copy&paste) to your device and flash it via ‘install’ with TWRP

thanks harvey186, but it’sn’t working :frowning:

It gives me always tha same error:
This package supports bootloader (s): 0x4882, 0x4883, 0x4886, 0x4887; this device has boot loader 0x4822.
Updater process ended with error: 7

or copy the /e/ dev*.zip file after download to an SD card and install it from there via TWRP “Install”…

thanks archje, I’ve just unlocked the bootloader before…

I tried to reinstall android 6.0, but i can’t.

Maybe there is something wrong with TWRP?

I paste here the script in my terminal:

Carlos-iMac:adb-fastboot carlo$ fastboot flash recovery /Applications/adb-fastboot/twrp-3.3.1-0-titan.img
(bootloader) has-slot:recovery: not found
(bootloader) is-logical:recovery: not found
Sending ‘recovery’ (8182 KB) OKAY [ 0.283s]
Writing ‘recovery’ OKAY [ 0.282s]
Finished. Total time: 0.616s
Carlos-iMac:adb-fastboot carlo$ fastboot boot /Applications/adb-fastboot/twrp-3.3.1-0-titan.img
Sending ‘boot.img’ (8182 KB) OKAY [ 0.287s]
Booting OKAY [ 0.226s]
Finished. Total time: 0.517s

  1. Why does the flashing of StockROM not work?
  2. Try an older version of TeamWin - TWRP, e.g. 3.0.2.4 or 2.8.6.0 …

Could you please point me/us to the download location of the stock rom ? I would have a look on it, because these stock roms I know are have his own installer, so no need of any twrp. Stock rom comes normally with his own recovery

  1. I finally installed android 6.0
  2. I tried older version of team win, but i have always these message:

Carlos-iMac:adb-fastboot carlo$ fastboot flash recovery /Users/carlo/Downloads/twrp-2.8.6.0-titan.img
(bootloader) has-slot:recovery: not found
(bootloader) is-logical:recovery: not found
Sending ‘recovery’ (6 KB) OKAY [ 0.035s]
Writing ‘recovery’ (bootloader) Invalid boot image
FAILED (remote: ‘’)
fastboot: error: Command failed
Carlos-iMac:adb-fastboot carlo$ fastboot flash recovery /Users/carlo/Downloads/twrp-3.0.2-4-titan.img
(bootloader) has-slot:recovery: not found
(bootloader) is-logical:recovery: not found
Sending ‘recovery’ (6 KB) OKAY [ 0.076s]
Writing ‘recovery’ (bootloader) Invalid boot image
FAILED (remote: ‘’)
fastboot: error: Command failed

:cold_sweat:

What happens when running this command:
fastboot boot recovery /Users/carlo/Downloads/twrp-2.8.6.0-titan.img

Or any other twrp version ?

What’s wrong with trying - the twrp*titan.img in the same directory / folder as adb & fastboot, e.g.:

Carlos-iMac:adb-fastboot carlo$ fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.6.0-titan.img

I have found this on xda
I guess I found the solution to the original question! After flashing TWRP, the instructions tell you to do a ‘fastboot reboot’. But they are wrong, don’t do that! If you are on the stock ROM and boot into the system and not into recovery, it will overwrite TWRP and you will have to reinstall it. Instead, use the volume down button to navigate through the bootloader options until you get to Reboot Recovery. Press the power button to select and reboot. And up comes the TWRP screen.

By the way, you are on a Mac. Could you try running the command with root ?

I’ll tried to install the last version of twrp, it gived me always the same message… but i tried the installation of /e/: and it works!

But now I have problem with the account manager: impossible to find CalDAV or CardDav services!
:sob:

How have you done ? Via adb sideload ?

Regarding account manager: you have used
username@e.email ?
All in lower case letters ?

via adb sideload.

The account manager doesnt’ work (i can regularly login in my browser).
Any ideas?

Thanks

You have seen these questions ?

yes, i did. But nothing…

Mhm, that’s crazy.
I can’t share screenshots for the edrive setup because in the moment I don’t have an eOS device.
Hope someone else could share. Sorry

Could you pls share screen shots of edrive setup ?
Thx
