Hello! I had several instances these past weeks where I got horribly lost, due to Murena Maps showing a random GPS location instead of the correct one, despite all settings being correct. Then, upon using the same app again a few hours laters - without having made any changes to the settings - it once again correctly identified the right GPS location.
I am not able to reproduce the error, yet it seems to happen mostly in the hours after having experimented with the GPS settings (Expose/Hide Geolocation). However, one would assume that immediately after updating the settings to “Show real geolocation/GPS on”, Murena Maps would be able to correctly use my real location, not spend the next couple of hours still showing random locations in other countries. Yet, this seems to be the pattern… a hidden internal time delay of updating GPS settings. In case relevant to mention: I use Fairphone 6 x Murena 3.5
BONUS:
In case this ticket ends up being forwarded to a developer within the Murena 3.5 team working on Murena Maps.
(1) It is confusing that the “Geolocation exposed”-setting is located exclusively within the “Advanced Privacy”-menu; and not (also) within the “Location”-menu.
(2) One would assume that “Murena Maps” would automatically alert users trying to schedule a route with a random GPS, and nudge them to temporarily expose their real location instead. Instead, users are left desperately searching through advanced settings to find the “Geolocation exposed”-setting
(3) The application is cluttered with way too many features people rarely use, like “Roadblocks, GPC Tracks,Video Logs, Lat/Long”, while things people actually want to use like “Show most recent searches” can barely be accessed, due to irrelevant features taking up too much space. It would be helpful if you´d let a Minimalistic UX Designer clean up the app a bit.
PS: In case you have any follow-up questions, feel free to reach out. I work in Product Design, and would be delighted to give feedback on UX issues.
