The post was closed as it was a subject under testing. v3 has not been released as yet. Testing subjects are not allowed on the forum.
The language of this post is not acceptable on this forum.
I agree!
On the other hand, I’d like to add some context, as I saw this comment yesterday:
It took me just a few seconds, to think it was in response of his post being closed:
The topic has been discussed in the past and now has officially been announced
To me this this feels a bit like silencing a whistleblower or preventing press leaks…
while in this post the entire community is asked, to participat in speculations and guesses!
Now reading this:
Shouldn’t this go both ways? @Xxpsilon took a stand yesterday to let people know what was coming down the pipe and got closed!
I started this:
If I was still building /e and seen this Find my device app in a dev build, I may have posted about it, too.
And as system apps can not be removed easily by standard users…
Early announcements from Murena, would be very helpful in general and permit the community to discusses openly, how they feel about things coming to their devices.
I apologize if I misunderstand, but what does “subject under testing” mean. If this suppression of information is official policy, I would like to know why? After all /e/os is open source and anyone can compile the system including with “subject under testing”. On the other hand, it would be necessary, in a civilized manner, to justify in writing and reasonably any termination of posting of a subscriber on the forum. I don’t agree with Xxpsilon’s reaction but it’s normal to lose your nerve if you’re repeatedly humiliated. So, once again, why is it so secret that it can only be officially revealed. I think Xxpsilon did a very useful promotional service, or not?
From every version feedback topic for a while …
But @Manoj, perhaps this better should additionally be addressed in the forum FAQ, if you want to enforce it strictly across the forum.
Got a post canceled on an internet forum. Where’s the humiliation in that? And what in general would justify “losing your nerve” in the way displayed here? This shouldn’t ever be human behaviour. There are things like upbringing and education which should take care of this, but I would agree those are less and less on display in our current world and even more forgotten on the internet. This should still not serve as any justification to stoop so low.
Such information can confuse other users who do not see these versions in the updater.
Remember that not all users who come to this forum are experts in installing and formatting custom ROMs and can end up seriously damaging their devices by trying these test versions.
I could hardly name these reasons to block a free discussion on the forum. I think it’s more a concern for the public image of Murena than a concern that someone can destroy their device through a voluntary and assumed action from the very beginning. In addition, it is obvious that an artificially created restrictive atmosphere does not generate much enthusiasm from forumists, how many will remain in the end. Still, I thought it was the open source eOS forum, not the Murena forum.
I have already said that I do not agree with Xxpsilon’s reaction, nor with Manoj’s reaction. It is obvious, however, that we can all have negative reactions, it is not the case to play virtuous. The case can be closed by a virtual handshake and mutual apologies.
If discussing test build issues could be confusing,
Discussion on future feature should not be a problem.
Is it? Can you point me to the source code of the Murena MDM app? To the source code of the new Find My Device feature?
The reason we do not allow test builds to be discussed on the forum has been mentioned before.
Have added them to the faq just to make it clear.
The roadmap related featured can be discussed in the post created for it where it is already being discussed. Having comments in a single post helps to collect feedback on upcoming features.
Again I repeat some of these features may not be available in the next builds as they are still not complete. Some like MDM or Unified Push would be disabled / greyed out and not work even if enabled as they are not fully integrated.
We ask for feedback for topics that you may like implemented in future for example desktop mode. They may or may not be developed based on the user feedback.
On the abusive language used in the initial post, such language is not allowed on this forum.
My abuse and insult was not public here in the forum as manipulated by @Manoj, but was delivered to you personally via Personal Message (PM).
You made my message public and deleted my picture consisting of three Find my Device screenshots.
Not with @Manoj
