New User, slight issue

Hello fellow freedom lovers!

So I have just installed /e/OS on the NothingPhone 2… Is anyone else having trouble installing APKs from “unknown Sources” F-Droid,Apk pure won’t install from anywhere even with permissions on, all very sus

Regain your privacy! Adopt /e/OS the deGoogled mobile OS and online services

I cannot reproduce this. If you go to

Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps

do you find F-Droid listed as allowed?

An extra complication is .apks downloaded to say Browser Downloads, where we find that File manager must be allowed.

I can’t even install F-droid or any APKs outside of the App lounge. The APK files won’t install from the file manager or any browsers. Regardless of permissions.

Appears to be a /e/OS issue as I’m not getting this problem on IodeOS or Stock Android. I just get this error “App not installed” no further context.

Let’s rephrase the question … . If you go to

Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps

do you find Browser, your other browser, MicroG companion and File manager all listed as allowed?

Yes, this is what I mean. All are allowed, still no apk install. Only App lounge is letting me install apps at the moment.

Thank you. You might perhaps follow this guidance to check that you have a sound version of F-Droid Verifying downloaded F-Droid.apk | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

I’m pretty sure it is from the authentic website, How often do you see fake F-droid apps & pages?

Well I guess F-Droid produce that page for users who want to be absolutely sure of the product.

I messed up, I forgot to sign out of google before flashing the ROM, this Triggers something called FRP. (Factory reset protection), Google are a seriously terrible organisation, like cancer that won’t go away without a fight. I might need to start over.

Threads on the forum about FRP have the hashtag frp. Seems the most reliable way out is to rollback to Stock, establish connection with Google account also passwords and PINs and ensure they are removed before reinstall.

I would beware of any fix by attempting erase unless you find instructions for your device and Android version.
