Newby needs help "Settings -> Security -> encrypt phone" does not work

Hello,

i want to encrypt my phone. Everytime i start the function in security settings, my phone restarts and nothing happend.

I have a xiaomi mi a1 and have the lastet version of /e/ installed.

Can somebody help?

Fairphone 2 (FP2) workaround

Someone gave this tip already in short on Telegram, but it wasn’t really clear at the time how to do this. After installing /e/ on FP2 it seemed impossible to shutdown the device by long press the power-button and then “power off”, it just reboots. Phone encryption not working - LeEco 2

I managed to encrypt my test leeco s2, but that was using e V0.2 (oreo). I assume you use V0.1?. I did have a hard time to un-encrypt it again :(. I can send you a link to 0.2 but i have no experience with encryption, so i don’t know if everything is ok. I could not see yj pattern when unlocking the phone for instance, is this a safety feature? When you boot the phone you have to give your pattern before android boots, i guess thats normal behavior? I could not reset the device to not encrypted …
