OEM unlock not possible Pixel 7

Hello

I am trying to install /e/OS on a Pixel 7 with Android 16 Security Patch from oktober 2025.

The option of OEM unlock is greyed out even with internet connection. Carrier lock is unlikely. Internet mentioned encrypted bootloader, which I never heard. I can only imagine locked from previous user since it is refurbished bought.

How does that work? Not sure.

Since bought from a shop, we don’t know the history. There is a disclaimer on it about american warranty. I read that Version locked phones even after carrier unlock still the bootloader can’t be unlocked…

if OEM unlocking is not visible on a s8 or later, follow this instruction :
Disable autoupdates and automatic time, put back the date minimal 7 days before the actual date. Finally reboot the phone. That should do the trick Fix Missing OEM Unlock Toggle on Samsung Galaxy Devices (Guide)

Didn’t work but with Pixels that should not be the case. Internet is only needed

When OEM unlock won’t undo (after all the usual) we are stuck and would be a case for return.

Not knowing the history, just a guess, someone may have messed up in returning to “original” locked.
