Oneplus 8 Pro: New system updates are no longer displayed and cannot be installed (currently running March 2024 release)

Hi,

I am running e/OS 1.21-r-20240323388914-stable-instantnoodlep on a OnePlus Pro 8 IN2023 model. In the past, I received a notification whenever there was a new system update. In have some time ago installed two updates directly from the phone. When I installed the current version, I experiences some installation issues (I cannot remember exactly but I had to reboot several times before the phone fully booted). I still got notifications of more updates which I did not install directly as I could not risk ending up with a phone that does not work due to a failed update. Now, I wanted to finally install updates but it says my current version is the latest version when searching for updates. I highly doubt that. Not sure whether this is connected to the problem with the updates, the application App Lounge no longer loads.

I would be grateful if someone knew how to find the latest update and how to install it in my case, i.e. without the update being displayed on the phone.

Thank you and all the best!

Edit : @aibd is right, i miss the “stable” string in your version name
changing branch could be a problem, especially if your bootloader has been relocked…
TAKE SOME BACKUPS as you may be forced to format the /data partition

use this filename : e-2.6.3-u-20241218455570-community-instantnoodlep.zip to replace the filename used as exemple in those instructions :

I cannot find the announcement in a quick search, but instantnoodlep is one of the few devices to have been dropped from the Stable release channel, see also Different Build Types. /e/OS AOSP 11 (R) builds ceased not long after Android Security Patches ended in February 2024.

Development has been ongoing for the community=dev build, so you can now upgrade from AOSP 11 (R) to AOSP 14 (U) as indicated by @piero. See also Install /e/OS on a OnePlus 8 Pro - “instantnoodlep”.

This update of official advice Important Update: /e/OS is moving from AOSP 13 to AOSP 14 for 100 Community devices is significant to you.

Be aware that you will be making the change from

  • Stable=official → Community=dev as well as
  • a major jump from AOSP 11 (R) to AOSP 14 (U)

Please ensure you have a good backup strategy before making changes.

Thank you so much @piero and @aibd for your immediate and effective help!

The dirty upgrade (option 4. with ADB) worked. The App lounge is also updating again.
