My LE2123 OnePlus 9 Pro is constantly crashing to Qualcomm Crash Dump mode. I’m able to hold the power + volume up buttons to restart the device, however, this continues to happen over and over again. I’ve noticed that this happens more when I’m in a not-so-great cellular reception area. Other people’s phones still work in these areas, but I notice that my cellular reception indicator will quickly switch between multiple 5G bars, the “x” indicator for no reception, LTE, then back to 5G bars. Then the phone will go to crash dump. This won’t happen when the phone is plugged in for charging. However, after unplugging in one of these locations, the phone will crash dump within a few minutes. I took a trip a few days ago and was in areas with not-so-great reception; over the course of the trip, my phone crash dumped about 30 times.
Is this a known issue with OnePlus phones using e OS? My research into this issue tells me it’s very uncommon with OnePlus phones using the standard Android OS. Could this be related to the fact that no OTA e OS updates have been available since February 6, 2023? I’m currently running 1.8.1-20230206257804-l. Thanks!
Well this may likely play a part. Which Android version is this build?
Most devices do not get Upgrade of Android version OTA
only monthly OTA of /e/OS version happens, then on community / dev builds one has to do a manual upgrade of Android version.
For certainty please quote your full build_version_string found in
Settings > About phone > Android version > /e/OS version.
Long press on this /e/OS version to copy to clipboard
OR tap on /e/OS version then Long press on /e/OS version to copy to clipboard.
The official advice is to treat the upgrade of Android version as a fresh install, but as long as you have important things backed up you can Upgrade Android 12 (S) to Android 13 (T) without Format or wipe data as described Dirty upgrade to /e/OS-T is possible ! (But not for all devices).
Apropos the 5G problem, does the behaviour change if you disallow 5G in Settings?
Contains all the information. Lower case “r” for Android version and dev is the build type. There was a naming change, dev builds are now designated community.
Being on Android 11 (R) will be the cause of your problem almost for certain. /e/ OS no longer supports Android 11 (R) and in some of these builds there was a run of internet / mobile data related problems reported a while ago.
You should upgrade soonest. Please read the earlier link carefully. There is a risk that you might lose data by that method as you are upgrading Android 11 to 13 – but it has been successful for a number of users for instance [Guide] /e/OS Upgrade Android 12 (S) to 13 (T) 'enchilada'; in view of this please be as thorough as possible with your backup. My suggestion would be to reduce data a little – delete apps which are not essential for backup.
It could be. But it could also have something to do with it:
Warning! Unless marked as Official, many /e/OS builds here are intended for daily use.
