Since today, OsmAnd is crashing all the time. I have cleared the cache but I don’t want to lose the maps, so I didn’t delete the rest of the memory contents. I have restarted the phone.
What can I do more to find the error?
I have installed it through F-Droid but I believe that AppLounge has updated it.
My interpretation of why delete Storage may work in many apps is that contained there is something “impossible”. I can understand why you would not do this as a first pass.
I did check Storage in my version and you are correct that it does contain Maps among other things. In my case it amounts to 1GB+ including Favourites. I guess one could back this up, delete Storage and then restore Favourites and Maps … ofc no evidence that this is the problem.
The same thing happened to me today with that same version, 5.1.9. The quick fix I found was to clear the cache and put the phone in airplane mode. Everything was fine while I had airplane mode on, but as soon as I turned it off, it would crash again within a few seconds. I then backed up my maps, favorites, etc., cleared all data, and reinstalled the app from Play Store. Everything worked fine until a little while ago when the same thing happened. I suspect it’s something with the server syncing, because it only happens when the phone is online. So, it’s a bug in the app that needs to be fixed by the developers.
