I recently installed /e/ OS on a Google Pixel 7. During the initial setup and all subsequent attempts after, my phone will not allow me to set a PIN. Instead, it advised that a PIN has already been set on the device.
It reports the same error for pattern unlock, passcode unlock, and fingerprint.
I did a little digging and it seems that the issue may have been that my google account was still on the phone when I performed the installation process.
One solution I found online was to addmy old google account to the phone. This did not resolve the issue.
The second solution I found was to reinstall Android. I attempted to reenable developer options, so that I could reinstall Android and attempt the process again. However, after enabling developer options, the Settings app crashes whenever I attempt to tap on Developer Options or search for OEM unlocking.
Has anyone found a workaround for this issue, encountered this issue yourself, or have I gone an bricked my phone?
Do you remember what GoogleOS version was installed before /e/ ?
current GoogleOS is based on android 16 that is not yet compatible with /e/
and downgrading from a16 to a15 based GoogleOS is not possible.
if possible, you have to reinstall one of the latest android 15 based GoogleOS (latest is from may 2025)
you will have to enter your PIN, and then disable the lock.
if you had connected a google account in the past, you will have to reconnect it and then remove it
It sounds like my phone may be well and cooked at this point. I attempted to go through the re-installation process, but without the ability to enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging, it seems that I am stuck in a permanent loop.
