Please rename /e/ to something pronounceable & searchable

Now it’s just a question of which one of us will guess it before it is unveiled, eh?

Eagle OS - Take your data and soar!

My money is in ethical OS!

I think they’re will be no English name because Gael is French and /e/ is designed to be international.
I suppose the name will be a word-game like Eelo (Hello).

I think it will be eOSwhichisusedtobeello.

Hello à tous,

Voici mes propositions :
Eagle OS
Dungeon
Eon ( chevalier d’Eon, célèbre agent secret et roi de la dissimulation)

Copy-paste from Wikipedia: E.ON SE (marketed with an interpunct and lowercase letters as e·on) is a German electric utility company based in Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Well well well…
Some news perhaps… ?

it’s getting exciting!! i have another suggestion:
OSOS
for “open source operating system”
or OS2 (OS squared) for the same meaning

You’re not serious, are you?

haha OK well may be not OS2 then ;p

Anything called Project… sounds too geeky for normals and they won’t take an interest.

Is something simple like ePrivacy. a dumb idea? Or anything e with a word that means privacy etc. Or enonymous? Etopia?

Hi everyone,

I just joined the forum today, but I’ve been following the /e/ project since August. So, I just read tonight this thread about the product name and thought I could bring my $.02 on this topic.

When I created a folder on my laptop, I realized /e/ would be invalid as a folder name. Anyway, I thought ‘e’ is very important: the ‘e’ logo is very cool; /e/ as a product name; e.foundation as an organization name; e.email as a cloud based email service. So, I decided to abbreviate foundation in ‘found’ https://www.allacronyms.com/foundation/abbreviated and created the folder e.found

It sounds good to me, as it reflects both the nickname of the /e/ product, as well as the status of foundation, which carries high level values and ambitions.

e.found does not seem to be intensively used, so far: https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffsb&q=e.found&ia=web https://duckduckgo.com/?q="e.found"&t=ffsb&ia=videos

Just my two cents.
Cheers,
Mike

PS: potential tag line: e.veryone should be fond of e.found!

Ester OS.

A feminine name sounds good.

Feminine?

haha, i miss spelled it instead of Esther.

I think I like ester BETTER now. I had no idea of this chemical compound.

Whatever it will be, it will help as e is just not an optimal solution. Something like e-droid would be as far useful as people would easily get they can use android apps.

Still no name ?
Well.

Let’s call it : Noname

Why not elsa? Not that I am a huge Frozen fan (my daughter is though), but it sounds nice and could read as “E: Less Spied-on Android”. I say “less”, because admit it: if you use a smartphone - or the internet for that matter - you cannot guarantee there is no-one evesdropping.

.

I like the “e” that makes a nod to the “i” of apple in French /e/OS, /e/phone, /e/cloud, etc…
I like the “hey!” that shakes up the Anglo-Saxons heyOS heyPhone heyCloud, etc…
I like the logo that “turns gogol upside down” or “puts gogol upside down” like “hung upside down by his feet”

.
