Problem syncing photos

I am having trouble with syncing photos between the Murena cloud and my Fairphone 6.

All of the photos that I have taken with my Fairphone 6 appear in my Murena cloud when I log in through a desktop - even the photos I deleted off my phone. I want my deleted photos to delete everywhere. I emptied the Bin folder and they are still all there in the cloud.

Similarly, I have uploaded some photos from my computer into my Murena photo gallery that I would like to have on my phone. They now appear in my Murena cloud gallery, but not on my phone.

I have checked under System - Accounts and photos is toggled on to sync, so that isn’t the issue.

Same here. Sync is on but …?
Does it find my photo’s, or need they be in a specific folder?

I think not, other than default, check the eDrive README e / os / eDrive · GitLab

I guess the OP got no answer as this is more or less the expected behaviour (as I understand it). (Although we do find posts on the forum where users expect more of a two way sync.)

Note that within murena.io “Client syncronisation” should be enabled.

The problem seems to be two fold.

  1. client sync was not enabled on the web interface account, so I did:
On Murena.io website choose “settings” and then
    “Client Synchronization” enable this feature.
  2. The phone does not show the amount of GB used/remaining.
On a different account it does show remaining GB and sync works, but on the other persons account it has a lot of question marks. I tried this on two different devices, same result. So there must be a problem with the murena.io server not giving the right account info.

It has been a problem since the beginning of Murena cloud, it makes pictures cloud saving impractical : as you said, deleted photos are not removed from server and server side modifications are not updated on the phone, so there is no real synchronisation and its best to deactivate pictures “sync” in /e/ OS.

You may try the nextcloud app but again its not really useable.

Until some improvements are made, I advise to simply copy manually the pictures to the cloud.

Thanks for the explanation.
It is the same for me. So sorting Pictures is useless and syncing too. My paid space is more like a garbage.
@Manoj will there be a real syncing soon?

Have shared the feedback with the team. Will update if I have any inputs.

Is there a solution for this?

There are free nextcloud accounts up to 8 GB
So, its very serious for murena.io to fix this issue // or drop eDrive completely and focus on phones only.

/e/ OS does show the cloud storage total space as well as used space in both the widget and the account settings.

This would clearly be an error, memory says that it has been reported before. Inconclusive to me from this Search :mag: . As already said, is this on Widget and Settings (??).

If you get no insight from that search perhaps a screenshot would help (??). It would seem to imply there is some discontinuity with this account. You might ask a forum Admin here to ask if the Infra team might check, from the screenshot, the affected account if you include fuller details in a DM (??).

Another thought, does the affected account have a “Recovery email” ? Sign in to murena this will link to user/security if already logged in to the account.

Yes please. It’s very annoying to have all pics deleted from phone but still on Murea Cloud. I don’t know which pics I deleted unless cross check in real between phone and the Cloud.
Also, any tips to transfer documents from the phone to Murena Cloud without using a laptop in between (copy from phone to laptop and then to the Cloud?)
Thanks for your support

@manoj - 2-way / bidirectional sync was available in eDrive until mid 2023 when it got neutered because of data loss risk. There’s a few threads in the forum of users asking to bring it back
