Hi, I want to know that when you build the OS (unofficial), does it
include the latest features that are included in Official Version of
/e/ OS? I read Roadmap 2021. They are going to include so many new
features in future. Will these new features included in your
Unofficial Build in future? Tha…

Hi Zeno,

the source is cloned from |https://gitlab.e.foundation/e/os/android.git.
To get a changelog may be difficult because /E/-foundation gets a lot of
the source from lineageos (and other repositories) and lineageos gets a
part of their sources from google/android.This means you have to look
for changelogs in several sources.

The code for the mido device is cloned from https://github.com/zeelog.
Last changes for 17.1-4.9 were made in 2020 because 18.1 is the default
branch now.|

BAD NEWS: I am not able to provide an update because the compiling
fails for no obvious reason. If I can build a new rom, you can find it
here.

HI,
Thanks for reply

Hi,
You have problem compiling update. So will you able to provide update in future?

Thanks

Hi Zeno,

I don’t have a clue why it is not working (soong is failing…) and if
I will be able to compile the rom again.

I keep on trying and will tell you if it is working. Otherwise we hope
that /e/ will provide an up-to-date rom for mido some day.

So sad.
May be some developer solve the problem why it is not compiling.
Hope for that.

@Zeno and everybody with a mido device:

I finally succeeded to compile a new rom.

Hi,
Great Done Man,
Thanks a lot
I will try.

Hi, I ve heard that Mido is out of q develpment. They say that q version will never be available.
Now will you be able to create Unofficial q version for Mido?
Thanks for so far

Hi Zeno,
it is the same situation as before. /e/ provides the code that is used by all devices. The specific code for mido has to be cloned from Zeelog’s repository, because mido is no longer supported by LineageOS and TheMuppets.
I hope this keeps on working.

The next update may be ready at the end of june.

Thank a lot again.
Just I want to ask you a question. May be you feel it a repetition. Sorry.
Developers say that LineageOS has given up Mido and so it will not get Q image as there is no Q source on LineageOS for Mido. So how can you compile this Q unofficial if there is no base for Q available on Lineage OS?

Thanks again for your efforts.

Hi Zeno,
it is the same as having two PCs with Windows 10. It is the same OS, but different drivers for the hardware.
You need special sources for kernel, device and vendor. The rest is the same and gets cloned from Android/LineageOS/e/.

Hi, I mean to say that official /e/ dropped hope for q mido because there is no source from Lineage Os.
But you keep on compiling new versions of q Mido (though unofficial) so why can’t /e/ official compile new q version of mido like you do?

And thanks a lot for 0.18 q.

Sometimes phone just restarts without any reason. Is it hacked or there may be some problems.

Thanks again

It is not the trusted Muppets’ device tree. That is why they don’t use it.

Hi,
I m using 0.18 (unofficial) on my Mido by you.
Now I want to install /e/ Os for regular use. Can you guide me how to uninstall 0.18 and install 0.17 n Official Version of /e/ ?
Thanks in advance

This worked for me:

Make a clean flash (wipe about everything except the SD card) with LineageOS N.
Then flash the desired version of /e/.

((Maybe you should wait because they want to release an official pie version for mido.))

Thanks for the help.

Just sake of confirmation.

1.Should I wipe everything other than SD card.
Even Internal Drive, System and Vendor also?
And then I have to install LineageOS Nougat version.
Ok?

  1. Can you please show me the link to download LineageOS Nougat? I cant find it on its official site.

  2. Or, is there any other way around? To install MIUI first and then directly /e/ Nougat Official?

  3. Last suggestion I need is:
I want to use /e/ for some serious, secure banking etc. So what is your opinion: Should I still use your Unofficial version Q or should I go to Nougat Official version of /e/??

Sorry for the repetition.

And Thanks Again

Hi Zeno,
just follow the instructions how to install /e/ on your mobile. They tell you to format Data and wipe Cache and System. Maybe wipe dalvik too.

If you don’t find a nougat-rom, have a look (duckduckgo) at unofficial builds.
I made this extra-step just because they wrote downgrading might not work in /e/.

I can’t help you with questions about general security.
BUT I would never do banking on a mobile phone. I do it on my PC an get mtans on my phone.
Maybe the app of your bank doesn’t work with /e/.
