I’ve seen some previous questions about this but no solution on how to remove this box, only on how to prevent new suggestion from appearing (remove app usage data access perms for bliss launcher). But I’d like to completely remove it as it is just taking up space on the widget page for me. I do not need suggestions. It also seems not possible to change the order so for me this empty box (I removed the app usage perms) will always appear on top with seemingly no option to remove it. I hope I’m wrong as I like the launcher a lot.
I guess there is no option for it yet, a toggle would be the best of both worlds. Those who like it can leave it enabled and those who don’t can disable it.
I’ll look into how tricky it is to disable it when building /e/os from source. I would think it won’t be too difficult to disable/omit it completely. Adding a toggle is above my skillset.
After updating to v. 3.3, there is still no way to remove it. I don’t understand the philosophy behind this. Why would any developer impose anything to users (beside apps that are really needed obviously and “Suggestions” is definitely NOT one of them)?
What is there that is so marvelous in this widget that makes it mandatory???

You will only have to rebuild Bliss launcher to achieve the removal of the search bar. Alternatively there are many other launchers out there. /e/ has always been quite keen on Bliss as a “welcoming to all new users” sort of GUI but with a bit less flexibility than many.
There isn’t even any way to reorder the widgets; to do that I need to remove the widgets and add them again!
All right, what can I do so that I can add widgets on the home screen? Is there any app that can do that?
Just installed 3.4 and still no option to remove the suggestions or to manually sort/change the order of widgets.
I’m temped to open an issue for BlissLauncher to include this functionality. It is such a weird thing not to have, even if its meant to be bare and minimal it is very weird we’re not allowed to remove the suggestions and sort widgets. Specially if there is no valid reason to not have these options.
Suggestions are completely useless to me and others and involve background processes watching my usage to come up with suggestions, that also does not feel right on a privacy focussed OS.
Why not give us the option to simply disable it? Seems kind of convoluted users have to spend hours compiling their own version. If they have the knowledge/time to do that to begin with. I don’t see replacing the launcher as a viable option to fix this issue. The issue should be fixed in Bliss imho.
