Restoring a licence purchase from Google Play Store in eOS

Hi,

I use an app called SongbookPro for writing and storing my own songs. It connects to the Google Play store to provide a lifetime licence which allows more songs to be saved and online backup. I previously purchased the licence on an Android phone.

Is there a way that eOS can allow that functionality for the app to connect to the Google Play Store to restore my purchase? I have enabled various settings under Micro G and noticed the “Google Play Billing” experimental setting causes the “unable to connect to store” red error message to dissapear when opening the app which seems like progress. I now get “purchase not found” when trying to restore a purchase in the SongBook Pro settings.
I have added my google account in Aurora, App Lounge and in eOS.

I have also reached out to the developer of Songbook Pro about a month ago but got no response.
Any advice appreciated as I have yet to find a comparable app for storing songs and allowing me to perform them live.

In the past there was only one way to restore / verify licenses and In-App Purchases. Installing Play Store as that is the app that does the checking. Today it may be possible if using the latest microG, version 0.3.1+(?)

I have only one device with recent microG. When I launched an app that does license checking, it passed, whereas it fails on all other ROMs without Play Store.

Another test was with an old favorite, Chronus (clock/weather widget). It is free but has a pro upgrade via In-App Purchase (bought years ago). Installed it on a ROM with older microG 0.2.27 and another with latest 0.3.2.
In the Chronus menu is a ‘Tap to enable Pro features’. On the first ROM nothing happens when I click on ‘Get Pro’ from the information dialog.

With microG 0.3.2 it worked. Got an error popup telling me I already own the product and now the Chronus menu item changed from ‘Tap to enable Pro features’ to ‘Thank you for purchasing’.

License verification and in-app billing was added in microG 0.3.1. I believe current /e/OS has 0.3.1.
microG needs to be setup properly for this to work.
In microG Settings go to ‘Play Store services’. Enable both ‘Google Play Licensing’ and ‘Google Play Billing’.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to explain your experience with microg. I have version 0.3.1 and have also selected ‘Google Play licenensing’ and ‘Google Play Billing’ to no avail. I think it must be specific to the SongBook Pro app.
I discovered yesterday that I can add personal songs to the Ultimate Guitar app which I use so that is a workaround and will allow me to do what I need to do for now.

Thank you again for your advice!

Yes I was surprise to see that Billing is now possible ! What an important fetaures even if it still gives money to google …

I still have Buy in-app with MicroG but I will give a try just for test purpose
