Samsung galaxy s10+ compatibility

Dear All,
I’m using eOS from a few years with a Gigaset GS290 and I’m very satified. I’d like to buy a Samsung Galaxy S10+ refurbed. I see that in the supported device list, there is a question mark on “Safetynet”: what does mean with compatibility?

Thanks
Paolo

Another isuue, my understanding is that VoLTE isn’t supported by any custom roms on Samsungs, so that’s going to be a big compatability problem in a lot of countries if you’re considering using any Samsung for phone calls when a custom rom is installed. See the note at the end of Manoj’s first post in this thread

Yes, it depends on your provider. Alot of them turned off 3G and without 4G VoLTE (and other reasons I can’t comprehend) calls and network internet won’t work

Internet works without any problems on all 4G capable phones (probably more than 90% of all phones still being used)…Only the voice calls which the phone must convert to data sending don’t work if the phone doesn’t have VoLTE possibilities.
AFAIK Samsung custom ROMs have no support for VoLTE altough some attempts have been made to make it work.

Could you kindly explain me what does mean the question mark on “Safetynet” in the eOS supported device list for the Samsung S10+?
For what concerns VoLTE you are saying that there could be some problems with Samsung? So it would be better to use a Pixel phone?

Do you confirm that the smartphone OnePlus 7T is compatible with Easy-Installer eOS?

It’ll install the Community build, which is the build that used to be called the Dev build. So it might be a bit buggy.

See this page for which builds the Easy Installer will install on each phone it supports

What used to be called the Stable build is now called the Official build. If you want to use eOS on a phone which is your every day phone for important stuff then a phone which has an Official build might be a better option for you.

I have dev build since years without ans major bug. The offical/stable build is for devices sold by Murena (but also available for manual installl). That build also gets Android major version upgrades.

Samsung phones on custom ROMs don’t support VoLTE so if your telephone network provider drops 2G and 3G network you cannot initiate or receive calls anymore. If you use extensively other means of communication (like Signal for instance or whatsapp, viber) you could still use your phone but will not be available to others trying to reach you with “regular” voice calls.
You can choose most of recent phones that are supported by /E/ (just not Samsung ones).
Good luck!

Thanks for all the info
