In the OS updater, I’m running 2.5, and wouldn’t see 2.6.3 when updating (refresh icon).
I changed the preferences to check the “see all available updates” option (personal translation, as, in french UI, it is named “voir toutes les mises à jour disponibles”). Suddenly, 2.6.3 appears.
Would anyone be able to clarify the role of that “see all available updates” setting ? Maybe it’s just a caching issue that prevented 2.6.3 to appear, or it is indeed linked to that setting change… but how comes, then ?
I fear the setting is somehow misnamed, and I couldn’t spot documentation to explain…
It’s possible that the sudden appearance of v2.6.3 didn’t have anything to do with the change in the “see all available updates” option and could just be a coincidence related to the phased released of updates.
It has also been reported that “Updater requests” to /e/ servers have (at times) been throttled to say 25%. Some users report refreshing 4 or 5 times then the update availability shows. I think much more likely your second or third request “just got lucky!”
The updater is inherited from LineageOS, where updated builds frequently occur say 4 times a month. Depending on the user’s frequency of checking, the usefulness of this setting is perhaps more intuitive. Discussed here Multiple Update options on System Update
