I continuously have the following issue with the Signal app on my Murena 2: When the phone is active (and the network happens to work as expected) Signal fully works without any issues. But if the phone is inactive (i.e. just lying around without being actively used) Signal often stops receiving messages. Only after the phone is activated (showing the login screen is enough) I finally receive messages after some time. Is there any known issue with the OS or with the phone?
Yes. I checked all settings to be sure. The device clearly shows that the app is running in the background. It also works in about half of the time. Only after the device is not activated for some time it stops working.
That might be the culprit here. The setting was set to “optimized” by default. I’ve set it to unrestricted. Let me come back to you later when I know if this helps.
Works much better now, thank you! There are still issues, but this seems to be more of an Signal issue now as an Android device has similar issues.
Yet “optimized” seems to be a risky choice for a default.
The question is always: optimized for what? In this case it’s “optimized for best battery consumption”. This is the opposite of “optimized for best usage”. Note: this will also affect many other apps which run in background, especially mail and other messengers.
Sure. Still I wouldn’t use this setting as a default when it has known issues. At least the built-in mail app didn’t show any issues with the default setting up to now.
