I’m a longtime (now) /E/ OS user but only recently realized that you cannot update directly to last version. This was verified for 2 phones (Mi A2 and XZ2 premium).
Example: if I want to pass from 2.0 to 2.3 I cannot… only next revision of the ROM is visible to the updater so I would have to do 2.0 ->2.1->2.2 ->2.3. This seems to me really counter-productive. Can something be done about it?
If you’d be able to update to last version then that would win time for the end-user and avoid unnecessary transfers from Murena servers…
The 2 phones are on different versions but face the same issue so my take is this is a universal situation hence my lack of specific information. I’ve been using /e/ OS for a lot of time now but I don’t update all phones (since some of them are not used).
Since most people are using only 1 or 2 phones and update them each time a new OTA comes out this won’t be a problem for the vast majority of users.
Still, the problem remains: if I want to skip 5 OTAs and go for the last 6th one I cannot.
This is not a bug for a specific devices this is an “anti-feature”.
You are probably right… it’s too bad that in my situation there is no improvement since 2.2 is just before last release for both phones so I would have to install all of them.
I might dirty flash the XZ2 premium to 2.4 once it is released and so skip all OTAs.
for your Xiaomi Mi A2 /e/OS dev jasmine_sprout download e-2.2-r-20240719418592-dev-jasmine_sprout.zip is last build for “R” branch that is now dropped…
Yes, very strange as Mi A1 (which is inferior) has a T build…
No matter… we should be grateful to Lineage OS and Murena that these phones have much newer software than the last one provided by their manufacturers.
