[Solved] Updates not showing

Everyday by booting my phone there would be some automatic updates. Last time there are a few.

In the App Lounge the update section most of the time shows the little round turning and no app updates.

The question is: am I missing updates or has the update frequency changed?

This on a fairphone 4

No, but App Lounge can run into difficulties sometimes. [Solved] Teracube 2e apps misbehave - #2 by aibd.

Is your experience anything like this? [Solved] Unable to update apps on App Lounge on Motorola G 5G plus (Nairo) and Moto Edge 20 (Berlin)

Thanks for your response aibd!

I emptied cache and storage, but not much changed. I had tree updates after rebooting. But still the update part of App lounge shows only the waiting circle.

I tried in anonymous and gmail login……

Also the categories section is very slow: it’ s shows apps after 5 seconds.

Are there other solutions?

Does this mean that there wss a change but the problem returned?

The first thread includes the advice

you do not comment.

This advice is given assuming that there is a “log jam” which needs to be cleared.

The second thread is more specifically about

  • App updates

and the difficulties of breaking down the number of updates to be performed at one time. The assumption is mentioned that you have an existing “update list” which keeps failing. The effect is to recreate the above mentioned “log jam”.

Not mentioned there is the idea

  • Within App Lounge search for an app you believe needs update, will one app update but problem returns …

So Clear storage will be needed again … plus

Also linked within the second thread is App Lounge completely dysfunctional - #5 by aibd.

So please also be sure after any Clear storage, to return to App Lounge > Settings and Disable

  • Update apps from other sources
  • Auto update apps

Ho wo, it worked!

I logged out, cleared cache and the other, waited for 12 hours and logged in again, anonymous and disabled Update apps from other sources and Auto update apps.

Thanks aibd!!

I was afraid to go back to the android times, but you saved me:)

Mmm one last thing: after above action I closed the app and opened the update section again. It showed only the blue circle turning….

I’m o.k. doing above actions but Is there a more durable solution for this?

So is this still with Disable

  • Update apps from other sources
  • Auto update apps?

My thinking on this subject might include some “impossible” situation arising causing a failed transaction which is not cleared at the end of the session. If that should happen Clear storage would be required.

I avoid using App Lounge if, on opening, the animated blank screen screen lasts for any sort of prolonged time, like > 5 seconds. When the system is running slow maybe App Lounge runs out of time to complete the transaction. This then becomes the cause of a “log jam” all over again.

If the timer should show when there are actually no updates due to “all up to date” then this might be a different issue (??).

Edit Are you running a fully updated version of /e/OS. App Lounge had a significant update for e-3.6.

Yes I disabled both.

And cleared storage and cache.

My version is /e/OS 3.0.4 -t-…………….

Updater has no further e/OS updates.

Is there a way to update to 3.6 in which maybe App Lounge is fixed?

I’m using Fairphone 4.

That is a13 based when Current is 3.7.3-a16

A clear guide to Upgrade your /e/OS to a new Android major version without loosing /data

  • using → Settings → System updater → Local_update from the phone
  • or using “recovery mode” and “adb sideload” from the PC

Download links for upgrading an existing /e/ system via local update or the /e/ recovery can be found here:

Should I download the json or api file?

And is : using → Settings → System updater → Local_update , as easy as it seems?

(I ‘m not so technical in this area, so preventing troubles by updating.)

Those two links show all the builds for the FP4.

First, are you using community or official? Open in a browser only the correct link. A PC browser will make it easier to read.

From @piero’s guide:

Download the latest /e/OS build for your device
it must be named like
e-3.2-a15-20251022539003-official-FP6.zip

Now study the contents, in each block of text is the line “url” … each url line is a “.zip” download.

Be sure to have a backup of essentials. I would reduce your installed apps to a minimum, this will also help you decide if you really need to backup “everything”. However mostly it will work without los of data.

Thanks!

I m a bit busy, so I haven’t updated yet.

I’ll let you know if it worked….

Mmm, I downloaded 3e 3.7,1 a.16 community (for I have community). I updated local. The update started installing. I rebooted my phone. Then updater says I m using 3.0….. and not 3,7

There was no sign that the updated didn’t work.

Did I do something wrong?

From this should we understand that the phone seems to be running OK?

What is showing as the installed version using this [HOWTO] Give complete /e/OS version info easily for support, answers, comparison etc ?

The telephone is running o.k. except App Lounge is not working (no updates or no message saying up to date or no updates available).

After installing the 3.7,1 a.16 community version it still shows: 3.0.4-t-20250710507811-community-FP4.

So it although I installed, rebooted it is still 3.0…..

Did I forgot something?

I am sorry to hear this. It is difficult to tell what went wrong from your description as the download clearly did not finally actually install.

  • (The jump from a14 to a16 is quite big and may have led to an unseen error but this is speculation.)

A suggestion would be to attempt an upgrade to a14 only. Perhaps download say ~3.3-a14 only.

Offer the Local update, pull down quick settings and set Caffiene tile to the maximum duration. This ensures that the process is not interupted.

Having started the install check the screen from time to time.

The will show changes, you might record the steps you see. Typically there is a message saying that the new version is ready to boot and will ask “Reboot now?” or similar.

Try to check to see that each stage seems to record a success.

If this works and runs for a few hours, perhaps attempt 3.6-a15 the next day.

Good luck

Thanks aibd for the fast respond!

In the list there is no url for 3.3 a14 or lower or higher.

Is there another place to get this?

(I’m learning a lot!!)

That’s the important thing.

Sorry, my mistake.

In community builds we seem to find the earliest a14 version:

"url": "https://ota.ecloud.global/community/FP4/e-3.7-a14-20260411607123-community-FP4.zip",

I suggest to go for this.

Unless … slightly higher risk

  "url": "https://ota.ecloud.global/community/FP4/e-3.7-a15-20260411607093-community-FP4.zip",

On /e/OS community FP4 download I see only two android 13 versions: 3.0.1-t and 3.0.1-t.

So would it be that updating to a higher version is not possible?

O sorry these posts crossed. I’ll try again the 3,7-a14…..
