Is there any roadmap for supporting WearOS devices on e/OS?
I am trying to pair my Samsung Watch7 with my phone, but encounter errors in the Samsung Wearables app after accepting the End User Agreement, and I believe it’s because WearOS is not supported. Another thread got Samsung Wearables working, but their device is not running WearOS.
I know that this runs counter to the degoogling goal, but I’m exploring options given I don’t think there’s another watch with the range of apps that WearOS offers.
I know of no such roadmap. As I understand it WearOS is a Google proprietary system where WearOS is available to watch manufacturers while WearOS app is available for Smartphone users. With this combination is probably hard to identify and eliminate the “phone home” of data.
Did you try install of WearOS from App Lounge? Are you looking for some other “Plan B”. I tend to think that Samsung Smartwatches are not well represented in https://gadgetbridge.org/ ??
Thank you for including that link to the WearOS Open issue … watching that issue’s development over time will indicate when completed and added to the then current microG release. (Likely it will arrive in pre-stable release first.)
You are addressing /e/ users in this forum; devs tend not to be watching.
/e/OS is not offering current GSI builds at this time. Once a microG stable release contains a patch for WearOS then this will be included in Unofficial GSI builds.
