Transfer Whatsapp data from Android to e/os Murena Fairphone 5

Hi,

I bought a Murena Fairphone 5. I want to transfer my whatsapp data from my old phone to this one.

I already found a detailed post:

But unfortunely it is not working, because i can’t find the Whatsapp folder on my new phone. Therefore i am not able to change the name. I continued anyways, but it is not working.

I also so other posts like using data transfer in Whatsapp by using a QR-code. That was also unsuccesful.

I guess those solutions worked in the past but something has changed.

Does anyone has any tips/advice how i can do this?

Thanks very much in advance!

Cheers, Marius

Maybe you can try this :

Thanks @MRTN for your quick response. Unfortunately i tried that one too.
When i do this both phones can’t connect/find each other and therefore the proces is stopped.

  • Your phones must be close to each other.
  • Both of your phones should be connected to a power source.
  • Both of your phones need to have WiFi enabled. They don’t need to be connected to a network.
  • Certain device permissions are required to initiate the transfer. Precise location permissions are required by the device in Android 12 and below, but WhatsApp does not collect your precise location.

If you have used ‘Wifi Direct’ in the past, make sure you clear it first.

Thanks very much. I followed all instructions and deleted the Direct Wifi.
Still i get an error notification that the phones can’t connect.

Any other tips? Maybe i have to disable app tracking or not use an anonymous google account?

Thanks in advance!

Good, to me it has worked this way, you make a backup of the old phone without videos, only chats, then on the new phone, if you have the email already registered on the phone delete it, and when whasapp asks you for an email you start with your gmail email, and it will open and you can keep your chats. And they will be backed up as many times as you want.
