@aibd sorry I was really in a hurry when you gave an answer/suggestion.
The hotels are somewhat in charge of WiFi connection as the chain we stayed with had a posted link to hook up to at each hotel. Sometimes it seemed as though it was centralised, sometimes not. I was nervous about them anyway because they stated up front that the connection was unsafe. My daughter connected automatically each time we stopped but she is lax with her mobile safety. Shenol suggested I go to SIM settings and completely turn WiFi off. While I was doing that, I also reset mediatek and allowed it to make changes to system. That was what fixed it.yayyyy. no
Signed up for T mobile today. They would not or could not port my number and I told them to leave my phone …no new phone for me! So now
