I’ve received a samsung galaxy A8 (2018) and after trying to flash twrp with Odin, the phone got stuck on a screen saying that “an error has occured while updating the software”. I can’t turn the screen off. It’s gonna screen burn i guess. Any help is welcomed !!
When pressing volume down + power the phone shuts down and after a few seconds turns on again.
No, firstly, I just wanted to install twrp. Then I was planning to look for a custom rom.
Edit:
I have fully reinstalled stock firmware thanks to odin and it seems to be working it worked. However, I still don’t know how to flash twrp again without facing this issue.
i don’t know, but 3.3.1-x is the good version for a device shipped with android 7 based firmware…
Also you can have a look at the Support thread on xda-developers that is linked on the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018 TWRP official page
Thanks for the site, I did not know about Leos. However, I’m afraid I have RMM locked my phone and according to some forum, the old trick of changing the date and waiting 7 days or whatever has been patched. So I don’t really know what to do right now…
Would you know something about that ?
Glad to see you got TWRP sorted out with Piero’s suggestion. About the RMM lock issue, yeah, Samsung’s security updates have made bypassing it a lot challenging. If waiting out the timer isn’t an option anymore, you might want to explore if tools like SamFirm or Frija can help you download and flash firmware that might reset the lock. Some folks have had luck with that.
Also, just a heads-up: when experimenting with custom ROMs and GSIs, it’s always a good idea to back up your data first. Flashing can sometimes mess with your internal storage unexpectedly.
Definitely not as you recommended. It would be wonderful if Samsung Galaxy devices could be equipped with a GSI as easily as you have described, but it is much more complicated. Get first impressions and visit Generic System Image (GSI) list > Show 444 more pages… Samsung…
