Could you describe your problem with more details please ? Which error do you get ? When does it occur ?

In Ubuntu desktop i start virtual box then l start windows 10
I login the mi app in windows
Mi app asks for the phone in booloader mode
( have previously debugged the phone as asked in this tuto
https://doc.e.foundation/devices/surya/install
Exactly here on the screenshot

I plug the phone…
Both have the phone screen design as they should
And nothing happens l do not get the start button working because the connection between the phone and the mi app does not hapen
It is the latest version 7.

Outside of virtual box xiaomi phone is recognized by ubuntu and l can look ino files…

Why use VM – many reported USB issues --when we have XiaoMiTool V2 - Modding of Xiaomi devices made easy ??

But it does it all ?
I just slide the e/0s in there ?

That would be the aim … but you said that you still wanted to unlock the phone (??).

No need to install a recovery before ?
Im impressed !

FAQ says :

Can I unlock the bootloader without waiting with this tool?

No, official unlock procedure cannot be bypassed, this tool just replicate what the official tool does.
So, the same rules apply: you have to bind your account to the device and wait for 15 days

Tried a few times…

Looks like you’ve had a problem with your account… Missing token generally means that you’re in lack of permission.

But l am logged in …
On the right corner l can see logout it means l am logged in
I did check the phone too…

What to do ?

It sounds as if you are still at the stage of asking Xiaomi to graciously unlock your phone.

You will know this has been actioned when you start to see a countdown … days till release … on your Xiaomi website account.

Using this tool does make the task a bit more difficult. The regular method includes a Mi Windows App to do this stage. Apply for permissions to unlock Mi devices.

So l need to find a way for my Windows virtual box to communicate with the phone via usb cable…
From what your link explains it is still mandatory to connect phone to the mi app unlock in windiows

Then l can shift to the xiaomi unlocktool in ubuntu and do the rest…

I did have an Xiaomi, I didn’t have Windows and I got the phone unlocked and then /e/OS running fine.

Cracking the requirements of Xiaomi was 9/10 for difficulty and required a lot of reading.

Which phones are the easiest then ?
What brand ?
I noticed samsung are a pain too + they had the screen sides bent which is annoying for gllass protection

One plus are made of crystal glass mine fell although with a thick soft cover the screen just broke and that was it…never ever for me

Pixel
Fairphone
Samsung (not so hard to install)

Samsung are not a pain to unlock at all. It’s actually one of the easiest i think (except for the A8 and S8 that are protected by a now deprecated feature).

You can indeed use a fairphone, they’re made in the optic to run lots of system. Pixel are also great as @piero said.

I haven’t heard much about other phones except for one plus but the one plus nord is having trouble with the ota right now. Plus what you said about the screen. Motorola are also supported but i don’t know if they’re easy to unlock.

Its the fingers switch manoeuvre l found difficult to enter boiotloader/recovery but the rest was fine l admit…
Once you manage one phone you know…

I found a tutorial to install xiaomi drivers in the Mi unlock apps for windows l will try that tonight…

Why are there so few second hand e/0s murena installed phones for sale on second hand online markets ?

I try install phones for friends because of that and l am no specialist and neither is the easy installer btw l have yet to see it succeed.
