Unable to connect to WiFi from Fairphone 5 running 3.1.4 A14

I am running /e/ OS 3.1.4-a14-20250915526529-official-FP5 on a Fairphone 5.

I cannot connect to the WiFi network at my office, even though the password is confirmed to be correct (I get it from the boundary devices QR-code generator).

It attempts to connect, then stops and reverts to “saved”. There is no error message at all. Trying repeatedly does not help. Stopping and starting WiFi does not help. Rebooting the phone does not help. The boundary device does not show the phone in the list of previously connected devices. The phone has worked on other WiFi networks.

It would be useful to see some logs. Are those accessible from /e/ OS? (I cannot connect to it via ADB at the moment.)

Capture a debug information from /e/OS

logfox can show you logs on-device. Probably up to the WPA standard in use, enterprise something?

I have the same issue and no idea how to fix it. I experienced it for a while after moving house, and then it went away of its own accord after a day. It was fine for a while (a few weeks), but now it’s reverting to 5G and nothing I do gets it back onto wifi. My issues are identical to the ones described above and my two housemates with identical phones and operating systems don’t seem to experience these issue, their connection is fine. How do I fix this?

A first fix after a move would be Settings > System > Reset options > Reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

I just did that to double check and will now annoyingly have to reconnect the Bluetooth headphones. Doesn’t make any difference. I did it when we moved 3 weeks ago as well. I’m on e/os 3.4 btw (and can’t update to 3.5 due to a lack of WiFi connection). And my issue is exactly as the original poster describes.

I experienced the same issue (intermittently) on my FP5 after updating to e/os 3.5-a15. I’m now on e/os 3.6-a15 and the problem persists.

I found some threads with a similar issue:

Someone in the first thread suggests this being an issue with WPA2/3 mixed mode or 2,4/5Ghz bands. For me it appears to be an issue with WPA2/3. Here’s what I did:

  • I checked the security setting of my wifi network on my router. It is set to WPA-2-WPA-3-Personal.
  • On my phone I navigated to “Network and Internet“ > “Internet“ and clicked on “+ Add network“ (below the lists of networks).
  • I manually entered the SSID, and selected “WPA3-Personal“ as security option.
  • I entered the Wifi password and saved.

After saving it connected immediately. Restarted my phone once, and it also connected immediately. After disable/enable wifi it also still connects. So, at the moment this seems to have solved my issue. Fingers crossed it will keep working. Hopefully it will help someone else too.
