OK, thanks. Will it help you if I keep posting working and not working here?
Where can I find the LOS developer?
Update for /e/OS 2.7:
Wow, thanks.
The search function in settings stopped working after a while, but works again after a restart.
I got a third party switcher installed and that shows all open apps even though the eos app switcher shows nothing.
The map app seems to be working fine.
The option to add restart into recovery to the power menu is checkable but does not do anything.
I like the 2.7 build
From the start, I could set a pin and add fingerprints.
APPLounge is working properly.
The gesture to switch apps works.
Night Light works
Settings button in drop down menu works
Not working:
Notes App - if I click to use an account it restarts. If I choose Local, it restarts.
I will use the phone and keep you updated
Thanks @ronnz98
—Edit—
Haha! Maybe it says something about how we use our “phones”, or maybe I was focussed on what was not working before.
=> I can not call or sms. Mobile internet is working though.
The camera is not working either. Neither in apps or in the camera app.
I just noticed something that may explain why my phone functions are not working.
Under about phone, the model is listed as SM-G780G. My actual model is SM-G781B.
Is this the cause??
No, you have the 5G model, the other is the LTE version

He has the SM-G781B, not the SM-G981B Exynos model…
On the stock rom it said in the phone settings that my model was sm-g781b (/ds).
On the current eos rom it says that my model is sm-g780g.
Both models are r8q according to the table from @piero .
So does the model name therefore have nothing to do with my problems?
I am trying to return to stock before trying again. On samfw.com i found 58 stock roms for my model number and country where it was bought. I am just downloading the newest one. Is this ok?
Here is the filename SAMFW.COM_SM-G781B_DBT_G781BXXSFHXL1_fac.zip
I am not sure, but, the Security Patch level (2025-01-01) may be a problem…
Ok, Thanks.
Is it better to try the oldest one then?
How would you choose?
Is there a better way to return to stock?
LineageOS Android Distribution (LOS) gives a clear indication of the supported model with its latest build (EOL): lineage-21.0-20240810-nightly-r8q-signed
Supported models: Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4G 2020 (r8q)
SM-G780G / SM-G780G/DS
The LOS download link is no longer available. Alternative: LineageOS-for-microG
(LOS4microG): lineage-21.0-20240826-microG-r8q.zip
Stock Firmware 2024: G780GXXSBEXG1 * BIT-B (BINARY/U/SW REV.)
Stock Firmware 2025: G780GXXSEEXL1 * BIT-E (BINARY/U/SW REV.)
So if i do not have either of those models is there anything i can do?
Should i install a stock rom for my device and then @ronnz98 's build?
Or should i install one of the roms you mention for the r8q variants that are supported and then @ronnz98 's eos build?
I am a bit lost here. Any help telling me exactly what to do, or exactly what to try would be appeciated.
Can you try A14 PixelOS if you still have this issues:
https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-14-unofficial-pixelos-aosp-beta.4678492/
Thanks for the reply.
Are you saying that the 2.7 rom will never work on my device?
I would like to try returning to stock and trying again, unless you are sure this will not work.
Even if i do try out LOS+MicroG or PixelOS, I will have to return to stock first anyway right? Any help letting me know which stock to download, or if it matters would be appreciated.
I am sorry for so many questions, but each time I get an answer, it contains things I do not understand, or that I can not even see how they follow on from my original question.
I am grateful for all your help though.
No, just follow install instruction of the PixelOS ROM
hi,
I successfully reinstalled a stock rom. telephone, sms and mobile internet were all working. I then reinstalled the 2.7 rom above, but they are still not working there. I get an exclamation mark (!) in the triangle where signal strength is usually shown.
I will go back to stock again and then try the lineage OS rom with microg that @Xxpsilon suggested.
LOS4microG may not be up to date, but it is tried and tested and will work. This is a good basis for further experiments. But please note
