Ah, ok. But if you click at the top of this page where it says
âThere are multiple variants of this device. Make sure youâre viewing the right one.â
Then you get an almost identical page but for my device. Maybe this is the problem. Ronnz98âs build is for the devices that you mention, that is maybe why phone functions are not working for me?
The LineageOSmicroG site is not working at the moment. I will try to download the files later though.
The instructions you refer to do not need all the files that I listed above. They also prompt me to build LOS which I do not think I have to do.
The insstructions for the PixelOS install that Ronnz98 recommended also do not need all those files.
Can you provide me with a simple howto?
I do not know why, but the phone seems to be working with lineageOS with microG.
Without any decent instructions I guessed my way to an install. The installation process did not work and took me to the download mode where it said that my vbmeta was not valid. From there I tried to use Odin to install the vbmeta that ronnz98 recomended above. It did not work twice, but then after a third restart it booted into LOSMicroG.
At first I still had the exclamation mark (!) in the mobile signal icon, but calling worked. After a restart everything seems normal.
I have no idea why the ronnz98 ROM at the top of this thread had working phone and sms, why the 2.7 did not and why I do have it now. If anyone can explain why to me, that would be cool.
More importantly, as my install was not at all smooth, are there any consequences? Should I try again?
If I do not hear anything, I will use the ROM as it now is and give feedback on what works or does not work here.
Thanks to everyone who helped me.
As i said, several times, those instructions were not any good.
They require you to build lineage OS yourself, which is not what I was doing. There were also other steps that i could not understand and broken links . In addition there were several file types to download that I still do not know the purpose of .
I get that the instructions are understandable for you guys and that there are hundreds of questions from guys like me with limited knowledge on this forum. If the ROM works out for me, i will try to write instructions of what i did, but it was many hours of trial and error over 3 months or so . I still do not know what I did wrong so that the current installation failed, or what I did right so that it started working on the 3rd reboot
Yes, I was originally trying to install an experimental, unofficial ROM, which as a newb was clearly ill advised. I am grateful to you for showing me a rom that is hopefully now working for me, and for your advice on how to download it.
However, is repeatedly posting the same link to step by step instructions without addressing the difficulties i have with them really helpful
The fact that you donât understand what the individual commands mean and therefore donât know what you are doing is another matter.
On the other hand: if you were able to install LineageOS-for-microG, then you can also install any other CustomROM (PixelOS ROM, /e/OS ROM) for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G (r8q). The procedure is always the same: install vbmeta + recovery, then flash the *ROM.zip using the installed recovery via Host maschine Terminal > adb -d sideload *ROM.zip.
According to SourceForge download counter were downloaded:
1x e-2.7-u-20250204-UNOFFICIAL-r8q.zip
6x e-2.5-u-20241109-UNOFFICIAL-r8q.zip
Feedback on the functionality of the two ROMs is not available here in the /e/forum. From this it can be concluded that you are the first tester of the e-2.7-u-20250204-UNOFFICIAL-r8q.zip, and - it is quite possible that the e-2.7-u-20250204-UNOFFICIAL-r8q.zip is not functional. It wouldnât be the first time! @ronnz98 has not tested the build because he does not have the device on site. It is not for nothing that @ronnz98 writes Use it at your own risk!
