Since last two updates, I can’t update apps anymore. This is especially annoying when payments are involved (bank/public transport…).(They become impossible, becoz the app is outdated.)
I tried all suggested solutions several times (removing cash/waiting/restart/special Google account/Anonymous… nothing works)(anonymous worked during a few weeks).
One workaround, but doesn’t always work and time consuming (having to retune the app): removing and reinstalling the app.
In stead of receiving automated messages, I would like someone to address this issue (or give a possible time frame for repair).
This is really important for me, and apparently I’m not alone.
One app after another becomes obsolete. I cannot buy transport tickets anymore, can’t make any payments anymore… Reinstalling doesn’t work (becoz the app is unfindable or ‘cannot be installed on this phone’ anymore). Not even with a 2-step-verification Google account!
I mean: if this isn’t ‘serious’… And it’s VERY bad publicity. (I’m trying to MAKE publicity for both Fairphone and Murena.)
The automated messages is a forum default, I’d disable it through the settings. The forum rarely has official statements but for the weekly dev threads. If you want official statements you need to write the helpdesk.
You’re not alone in the AppL struggle, but there seems to be a higher failure rate with FP5 users than other devices.
The threads under the app-lounge tag with high “Replies” count are due to authentication and installation issues for recent reports of others.
Wrote a bit more on AppL fixes here. If you still got issues in v3.2 you need to wait vor v3.3. Getting apks either via Aurora store or an Apk mirror. If you already installed the apk and it’s only about updates, any apk mirror is safe.
spoof your profile to something modern Samsung (S20+?) in Aurora (upper right settings, Spoof Manager), then you’ll get the rest of the Apps. Seems to me in the parallel thread a likely reason was found why FP5 behaves differently

.. away from the Playstore. Get F-Droid, in there get Obtainium - and Accrescent through the browser. All 3 do not use the Playstore.
Obtainium can update Signal continously. Accrescent would have a Signal fork too (Molly).
Imo it’s wrong for /e/OS to depend on the Playstore directly, it’s just convenient and operationally not has hard as to run an apk mirror. Cleanapk was good enough.
