Since having updated my Fairphone 5 to /e/OS 3.2 (e-3.2-a15-20251022539003-official-FP5), neither the App Lounge nor the Aurora Store work any longer.
The App Lounge does not load any screen past the “Home”, and does not show any update.
Aurora Store marks all apps as “Unavailable”, and does not show any update.
I tried deleting data and cache for both apps, and reinstalling Aurora, with no success.
It seems like I am not the only one with these issues:
watch the recently closed and still open merge requests to the AppL repo, looks to me there’s a concerted effort to improve things.
Can’t see an explicit ack as to the reason, but the one public gitlab backlog issue that aggregates most watchers atm is backlog#8738.
When a dedicated g-acc is used and things do not work, it can’t be chalked up to the token dispenser. But imo v3.2 fixed auth related issues, so I speculate something due to device profile and the right apk dl link is at issue.
A logcat from an FP5 (that had many failure reports) of an app refusing to install or even download is lacking as far as I can see in linked issues and the forum.
I had intermittent issues on a FP3 in the past but never cared really, currently an anon acc will download just fine for that device (v3.2 A15).
I flashed my FP5 with /E/ a week ago and immediately started to play. I installed some crucial applications (Swedish BankID, Signal, MS Authenticator).
Then I locked the bootloader and other partition according to instruction and this wiped my data (I was aware, no problems).
After I locked I failed to install the very same applications again, I failed to install almost any application from Play beside Swedish Swish (money transfer that depends on BankID) which was a bit of surprise.
Chang spoofing in Aurora to Galaxy S25 Ultra API 35 (instead of 34) allows me to install the applications as suggested in the link provided by @Manoj . Thanks. This has been so frustrating!
And I have installed and verified the BankID as well so I am happy
looking forward to if it really turns out to be the GL version string for the FP5, but I don’t fully grok it yet
links into source..
the linked fix at auroraoss by impulsion shifts when and how ro.opengles.version is set on FP4/FP5, but it should be available to AppL either way (before it was set on init.qcom.rc)? It’s used in GL.Versionhere either through the native readout, or spoofed in a profile.
Changing the smartphone model within Aurora Stora worked for me to update a buggy app. I switched from Fairphone 5 to Nothing Phone (1) which has almost identical specifications. Anyway, I don’t feel safe doing this in general.
I have found somewhere on this forum a solution that says you should try using App lounge while the phone is connected to the charher and try to reboot it. then you shall be able to install apps from App Lounge without any other tricks. I did install this way some problematic apps on my FP5. It’s not a perfect solution but worked a few times…
Thank you. So it seems a firewall inhibits app lounge to work, but I do not have a firewall installed on my motorola on vision with e-os 3.2. I had also a problem with usb tethering and hot-spot, which only works with wifi, not with Lte connection.
And it does not pop up when I use Wifi and App lounge works!
So in my place it seems to be the firewall I do not have. It is probably advanced privacy, but simply disabling its features does not work.
Some may be applied by you and your environment. Some will be related to current Notifications, so any symbol which disappears when you dismiss the notification gives a further clue to the error and / or might suggest that if there is a firewall at api.cleanapk.org not at your end, perhaps ??
The crossed out symbol and presence of LTE suggests inhibited network access.
Unbelievable. Thank you very much! as dumb as this is, but it worked in my case. I could not install update any app within applounge. Though about leaving /e/OS for a minute there. But I can live with this workaround until it will fixed hopefully in the next update.
