Web installer for FP4 seems to unlock bootloader twice

Because of repeated repairs, I had to re-install e/OS multiple times over the last weeks. Each time it seemed to me, like the /e/OS Installer asked me twice to unlock the bootloader. As it requires setting up the stock OS, rebooting, resetting, re-enabling developer options, etc, this is a bit tedious.

Is it just me? Am I misunderstanding something? Or is the installer actually misconfigured and that step is repeated twice unnecessarily?

(Also; I think it would be nice to link to an article explaining how to safely re-lock the bootloader)

Cheers and thanks for all the great work!

Farphone 4, 5 and 6, I think, share this procedure

  1. Ask for unlock with fastboot flashing unlock
  2. Approve with volume + then power
  • The device proceed with a factory reset, and automatically reboots
  1. Reboot again into bootloader
  2. Unlock critical with fastboot flashing unlock_critical
  3. Approve with volume + then power
  • The device proceeds with a factory reset, and automatically reboots.

Thanks! Ah, I see, so it IS technically required. I guess it would be nice to make it a bit clearer that it is a second, different, step because it does feel a lot like you’re stuck in a loop
