For the Fairphone 5, there’s now a stock OS release (FP5.VT2E.C.059.20250908) which reportedly fixes that OS’s issue that prevents Android 15 booting with a broken fingerprint sensor.
Is it expected that /e/OS v3.2-a15 for FP5 (“ETA Mid October”) would pick up any material from that Fairphone OS release, or is that now too late to get into v3.2?
(I ask in case /e/OS is affected by the same issue – which I still don’t know or have any evidence for – and if so, whether the root cause is in components shared with the Fairphone OS – which I don’t know either, despite asking – and also I don’t understand fully how/whether software components flow from fairphone.com to /e/OS. So a lot of speculation on my part behind this question. But I’m holding off upgrading my /e/OS from a14 to a15 until there’s more clarity on this, due to the severity of the potential bug, which could brick my daily driver on upgrade, or thereafter at any time if the fragile fingerprint sensor fails.)
Also: I recently noticed that the official -a15 builds for FP5 (which were, as I recall, 3.1.1-a15 and 3.1.4-a15) have disappeared from the FP5 download page. What’s up with that?
(It’s been noticed before that a build briefly disappeared and reappeared, without explanation. Is this just some known glitch with the download pages, or are/were builds being taken down deliberately?)
@Manoj: I might have understood things wrong. I know A15 is coming for my 2 devices: OnePlus 7 pro and OnePlus 9. Their builds failed so far. But how about the A13 builds? As I understood, they will be further maintained. For A14 there is a 3.1.4 (or so) version, but A13 keeps stuck in 3.0.4 - will there be further A13 updates?
Hi all, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this. Seedvault is not shown at FP3 with the latests version v3.1.4. Is there anything planed on this?
Ok thanks. My understanding of “to be planed” Next OTA is not determined yet and if i would be it is unclear if there will be switch to A14/A15 an if it will have an impact on Seedvault on the FP3
I’m so excited for the upcoming release of 3.2, specifically for my Pixel 8. I have used /e/os on various devices, but now finally want to use it on my main phone. The wait because of failed builds may have bummed some people out, but I’m glad the team took a little extra time to do things right. Much love!
