I’m checking for updates on the Bliss Launcher. We were promised features like the ability to move widgets on the home screen, but still nothing.
what’s new ?

I’m eagerly waiting for the yearly roadmap to ne released! Maybe we’ll learn more there.
Surly not … where did you see this ?
In general I feel /e/os is exceptionally well designed, but the one thing I really dislike is the Bliss launcher. It’s highly inflexible. Also the app switcher is a problem for me and that’s handled by the Bliss launcher as well.
I don’t understand why they felt compelled to develop a launcher that radically deviates from the traditional AOSP launcher. I mean it’s what everybody is used to so why force feed us something foreign.
In the mean time I’m using Lawnchair 14 which is a really nice open source AOSP style launcher and works well with /e/os. Unfortunately I’m still stuck with the Bliss app switcher and it’s not a trivial process to change it as is the case for the launcher.
Looking on the gitlab site here it appears to me Bliss Launcher does not get much attention. The original developer seems to have come and gone. I suspect they’re probably not going to do much with it other than bug fixes so I wouldn’t get my hopes up for any major feature updates.
However looking in the list of active branches may reveal different. Branches · e / os / BlissLauncher3 · GitLab
I guess currently most development is geared towards tablets, but the “looks like iOS” is likely to remain, imho.
Dead easy to change launcher though @fglrx [HOWTO] Start to customise /e/
Yeah it’s a trivial thing to change the launcher, but not so for the app switcher which is also disappointing.
I’m not familiar with the structure of the gitlab site, pretty confusing to me. I see it’s more active when looking at the branches. That’s where the work is actually being done, but I only see fixes. Don’t see any new features.
Continuing the discussion from Your 2024 journey with /e/OS and Murena (and a V2!):
He might have seen it there. But I haven’t seen any news about this in a long while.
