Will Android version upgrade need reinstalling from fresh?

I’m waiting for mido getting stable upgrade to Android Pie/9, but I don’t know when will it come.

Thus, I want to know if to upgrade it, will be mandatory to reinstall the system from fresh, as a totally new image, or if when getting to stable it will be possible to upgrade the system maintaining all data.

In the first case, I will upgrade to testing, not waiting. In the second case, I’ll wait to not lose all my configurations and data.

If by stable you mean the dev builds then yes you have to manually flash the first time to install the ROM. This is because the builds are made with different keys. OS version upgrades will also require a manual install and cannot be done by the Updater app as of now. We hope to add this feature to the updater in the months to come.
