I installed the recommended apps like in the guide.
I plug the phone to the car and the car directly asks me if I want to start Android Auto.
It does this only for one of two cables I tested so I hope the cable is not the problem?
(Sorry as a new user can´t post many images or links to visualize it)
First I get a screen on the car display:
“Android Auto is now available do you want to start the App?”
I press yes. For a while I get a screen with the default background saying:
“Android Auto connection is being established”
After a while I get this:
“Error Android Auto”
“Reconnect your Android Auto device or check compatibility”
How do I go on about debugging this?
I am an OK software developer myself but have no experience in so hardware related problems
I remember explicitly not installing any google services when I flashed the rom to the phone some years ago - maybe that is a problem?
This seems like the rational thing to do in this case.
Anyway, the possibility to somehow make Android Auto work with all that Google stuff reintroduced to a supposedly degoogled phone was added because users wanted to have it, not because it makes much sense in the first place.
It would be a different matter if microG could emulate everything necessary for Android Auto, but it can’t. Yet.
I don’t really know - I think the thread OP either was on a version prior to the sn-00-x repo merge in /e/OS itself, or wasn’t aware of its presence
Gave this another look and yes - having things work with Google stubs only, apart from this it’s using the /e/ official docs on android-auto.
