Yes the Aurora store saved me yesterday. I needed an app to control my ISPs router if you can believe that, I can’t make changes to it from the PC just the app, what a joke. Sorry off topic…
Fortunately there is Aurora, otherwise it would mean, that it would take a Google account and in these cases, there is no longer any interest to have a smartphone with e/OS/ Then.
Or move towards another alternative, and it’s a shame.
I think eOS with a google account would still be better than no eOS at all. But as you said there is Aurora and the App lounge will be back.
The good of eOS out weighs the bad even with the current issues, I am not going anywhere…
Same way for me since couple of days. The suggested solutions don’t work.
Same problem here - constant pop-ups telling me the Anonymous Account is no longer available, but any amount of ‘refresh’ simply doesn’t help. Nor does cleaning the cache etc. Rebooted the phone, as well - that didn’t solve it either.
I sadly also have problems installing Open Source apps using App Lounge - it seems to download but then just says ‘Retry’. Anyone else seen that?
There is
F-Droid and here, you can download Aurora Store
Or directly on their site: Aurora Store
There is also the site: Droid-Fy
And on: GitHub
I get the same message “anonymous account not available”, but when i hit ignore, it still goes on to install a Google Play Store app without issues.
App Lounge is a mess right now, but just give it a try…
Oh, and updates work, too
Tanks for the fDroid/Aurora- solution. Still: Why can’t /e/OS find å solution to a problem that so many have hat for some time, even though users are already
It is true that I also ask myself the question
Why it is possible to recover, install, update applications via Aurora Store and no longer with App Lounge
Right now, even after a cache-and-data wipe, nothing loads at all. The “Home” tab of the Lounge is basically a blank screen with empty placeholders, and “Updates” just shows the circular arrow icon, seemingly forever.
(Anonymous login.)
I am facing the same issue as well for several days or even weeks now. Sometimes it worked randomly after multiple reboots.
There is another strange behaviour when opening the system updater right after a reboot. In some cases i cannot connect to the update server and the AppLounge. When receiving commection errors in system updates i cannot establish connection to a DAVServer. In Addition other Apps (Mail, some banking apps, …) cannot establish an intetnet connection.
Starting the applounge as first operation after the reboot will trigger at least the updates of apps - sometimes. When this case occurs it is possible to connect to the update server as well.
Maybe all of this is not related. Nevertheless i cannot access the AppLounge.
Yup, they worked 2d ago… now, i had the grey screen of death again… looks like problem not resolved, but it works occasionally…
I.e. today existing apps were updatex, but now AppLounge is dead again…
I agree with others asking for an official status page about the App Lounge somewhere. You are now asking pepole who cannot install or update apps to find this forum and scan through all replies if they want to know what’s going on. For people who buy this phone out of the box after we as ambassadors of ethical tech advised it to them, this will break their trust in open source and ethical tech, because “it just breaks”.
So please communicate clearly about what is going on, and when / how we will be able to install apps again!
Totally agree with Erik! An official status page would be appropriate, especially for the less tech savvy. My banking app requires me to update within the next 10 days to keep working, would be nice to know an ETA, so I know if I need to deep dive into this issue myself to fix. Nevertheless thx for all the useful tips on this topic community !

Yep same issue here. Tried the full logout, clear cache & storage, reboot & wait process and it’s still not working.
Using Aurora at present. Is this private?

Yes, he is anonymous:
Apparently everything should be resolved next week…
There is a link, with its answer, which offers a solution to resolve, on our side, the problem …
[I am unable to login in app lounge via an anonymous account] (Get /e/ OS - e Foundation - deGoogled unGoogled smartphone operating systems and online services - your data is your data)
This proposed solution that everyone has already tried to implement, but has still resolved anything.
For mainstream apps → aurora.apk
from https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.aurora.store/
For Open Sources apps → F-droid.apk
from https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.fdroid.fdroid/
AppLounge is a combination of both…
Same App Lounge issues here now for several days
